Nothing Compares 2 U Lyrical question

Ok Fams.. help me settle an arguement. The Lyrics go like this at the beginning... "It's been 7 hours and Thirteen Days, since U took ur love away..."

OR

"It's been 7 hours and FIFTEEN Days, since U took ur love away"

I have Prince and The Family singing THIRTEEN and Sinead and everyone else saying it's FIFTEEN.

Need an answer. I'm going with Prince's ORIGINAL lyric, but my friend argues that I am wrong. I listened to Sinead and she clearly says FIFTEEN. I have Prince and The Family version clearly singing THIRTEEN.

This is the first time I've noticed it. When did this lyric get changed? And why?

I'm just guessing, but Sinead may be superstitious about the number 13.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

maybe a sound preference on Sinead's part? maybe she didn't like how "13" ended up sounding and preferred the crisper "15."

P & Rosie - that's my favorite version, and he sings "13."

Yes, the original lyric - and the one Prince always sings - is "thirteen days" (lucky 7, unlucky 13).

.

Sinéad changed it to "fifteen" for her version. I can understand why - I do think it scans slightly better than 13.

Didn't he use "Fifteen" in the live versions? Pretty sure that's what he used on The Hits version.

Interesting question, though. I'd forgotten about the original version, thanks for pointing that out.

It's 13 in Prince's version. Since that's the version on The Hits, I think that's the ballgame.
This is the only kind of love
That I've been dreaming of
The kind of love that takes over your
Body, mind, and soul
Love to the nines

Not that I've heard - it's always been 13 when Prince does it.
