The date recurs and it is strange. 3 times so far: 1985, 1996, 2016.

On the same day in 1985 he recorded 'Sometimes it Snows in April'. Which of course is about death, the death of Tracy, the character he plays in UTCM.

Earlier that month on April 2 1985 The Vault says this:

He told me, 'I'm going to look for the ladder.' I asked him what that meant. All he sajd was, 'Sometimes it snows in April.

The Ladder is a song he wrote with his father in 1984 and dedicated that song along with LRC/DM and The Beautiful Ones, and Adore, to Vanity the day of her death when he played the concert on Feb 15the in Melbourne. Take a look at the lyrics.

In the New York Times May 4th article, they cite Jeremiah Freed as relating that Prince told him in January he was having lucid dreams of communicating with the dead.

This is not uncommon among those dying. My father was beginning to communicate with his family members who had died right before he passed. A hospice nurse gave me this book "On Death and Dying" by Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. She has documented many cases of this. She also says that sometimes a person's spirit will hang around visiting people for a few weeks after the body dies.

Yesterday I took my mother to a tropical botanical garden for Mother's Day and a huge purple butterfly came and sat nearby. It was a male Purple Emperor. The wings immediately made me think of Purple Rain and the coat Prince wore and I found it strangely comforting.

The article says he was affected by Bowie's passing and also melancholy, even depressed, by Vanity's passing.

I have a hunch this was Prince's time to ascend. If you look at where he was with his music and stage act, it recalled his teen years. Psychedelia, an afro, and just a piano. As if he'd come full circle. It's still painful but I can accept it.

They were said to have been stunned by each other when they met, and saw themselves in the other.

He gave her the name of Vanity because he saw his reflection in her, a female version of himself.

She was sexually independent and promiscuous, just like he was, yet he couldn't bear that attribute in her. She walked away from him. Like he walked away from most women.

His most famous movie which defined him and made him a star, was largely about his relationship with Vanity. Many of the events were based on actual events. Most of the songs had their initial inspiration in her.

They were both engaged to other musicians around 1986/87/88. Neither actually got married.

Vanity disavowed her name in the early 90s just like Prince did.

She developed serious health problems in the mid 90s just as he is said to have.

She got married and divorced in 95/96. He got married and separated in 96/97.

She became extremely religious in the 90s just as he did.

She rejected her sexual persona just as he did.

Since 2000 she became an evangelist, and Prince also went on interviews discussing his faith more and more.

In 2007 she said in an interview that she and Prince occasionally talked on the phone but she wanted to see him face to face. He had just divorced Mani and was with Tamar and then in Las Vegas. She said she was waiting for God to supranaturally hook them up.

Her health took a turn for the worse last October, and she began to sell her things, talking about medical expenses but also putting her house in order. It became clear in recent months she was not going to make it. In January Prince is said to have started to seem sick, and gotten worse since then.

She died on February 15, one day after Valentines Day. He got the news when he landed in Australia. He was without his entourage that day. It seems to have affected him emotionally.

He said in the concert he dedicated to her that they had once loved each other deeply, and that she knew she was the finest woman in the world. He played The Beautiful Ones for her, and he said 'she knows'. (Last December his interview came out for a single day in Rolling Stone where he said that the song had been written for her after she broke up with him and left the movie. The interview was immediately withdrawn).

Her funeral did not occur until later in Feb, right after Prince finished in Australia, and Prince played his concerts in Oakland the day after her funeral. The funeral was closed to the public. Did he go?

He then apparently got weaker and sicker. His avatar on twitter revealed the third eye and had a tear.

He had an overdose on April 15, exactly 2 months after her death. Another overdose after a week of no sleep, and died. In an elevator.

Other notes:

In 1985 she said on Johnny Carson that she had been seeing him off and on for 2 - 1/2 yr. not just the 1 - 1/2 years.

It is said they met at the AMAs.

An additional story says Prince stole her from Rick James his old rival. Rick was planning to put her in his own 'girl group'.

She mentioned in one interview that Prince has sent over his rep to her who asked her to take him to the bathroom, which she thought odd. In an early biography it said that they were both wearing trench coats and he asked her to switch with him, they went into the bathroom to change, he took his coat off and was naked.They were together after that.

In Nikki Sixx' biography he said that in January 1987 he went to Vanity's apartment and she had a ton of roses from Prince with a card saying, 'Dump him. Take me back. Prince.' In April Vanity said they should get married so they got engaged. When Nikki went on tour later in June, Vanity visited him in Minneapolis and stayed behind to see Prince. Shortly after Nikki broke up with her.

Vanity mentioned him in interviews and her autobiography saying he was the only man she ever really loved. But that he could not be happy with a single woman. It was said that in one of her dire health scares she woke in the hospital and it was full of flowers from Prince.

I don't know if this means anything except that to my eyes they seemed to be somehow living parallel lives. She was always in love with him. Perhaps her death affected him too.

I think it's possible as well. Glad I'm not alone. When I google it, nothing comes up--it's odd, considering how many people were convinced Michael Jackson didn't actually die--why wouldn't there be more people wondering if Prince were actually still alive?

but the thought has crossed my mind, is there something we could do? if prince were, of course, only temporarily, beamed up somewhere, is he waiting for some folks to fast and pray enough for God to pull a lazarus with him? i guess i have to fast and pray to find out

i know how many 1000s are born and die each day, but for some1 doing such positive inspiring work, 57 is just too young, unless he's hidden, which, yeah, i could understand that. more behind the scenes 'grip' action from now on, hmmm....
