I watched it for the first time last weekend at a cinema doing a tribute. Thought I couldn't sit through it and then really enjoyed it. The film is hilarious. And the acting is so bad it's good and of course the music makes up for it all.

Yep I've watched it a few times on the big screen now but I was only a kid when it was in the theatres the first time. No way my parents would've let me see it during its original run!

I've broken down every time I've watched it, sometimes it doesn't seem real that he's gone.

Ahh shit. Sorry. You can't get out of work either by asking a favour or employing the dark arts?

I was only 4 when Purple Rain came out so I saw it for the first time on the big screen this past weekend... I saw it Friday night and again Saturday night... I wish it was under different circumstances but I am thankful I was able to see it on the big screen. I did cry though, a LOT....

I saw it on the big screen for the first time last weekend.

Before the screening began, the owner of the theatre introduced it by asking the audience if there was anyone there who'd never seen it before and nearly 60% of the audience raised their hands (much to the chagrin of the remaining 40%, many of whom groaned with disapproval).

But I gotta say, with so many fresh eyes, the entire room seemingly felt as though it had the energy of an opening night once the movie began.
