New Member Here,Broken-hearted Fan Just wanted to introduce myself here and say hello. My name is Kristan and I have been a fan since I was 16 and I'm 26 now. I have heard his stuff on the radio as a kid,but I didn't become a big fan until I was 16 and I was doing a dance show in high school and my dance teacher decided to use Lets Go Crazy as the finale song. I didn't know who sang that song and I wanted to know who it was because I loved it so I looked at the program from the show and saw that it was sung by Prince. After that I researched about him as much as I could,went and bought The Very Best of Prince and watched Purple Rain when it came on tv and it quickly became one of my favorite movies. Next to Michael Jackson,Prince was my favorite male singer and I wanted to see him in concert but my personal life got in the way from making that happen and now I regret not being able to see him perform. His passing has affected me a great deal and has made me very depressed. I finally had a good crying moment a few days ago,but listening to his music,watching his performances and movies and also reading some of the hilarious threads on here has helped me heal a bit. I hope to make a few cool friends here and to feel like I'm a part of this little family on here. Sorry for my rambling and I hope everyone is doing ok

To be honest its overwhelming in a good way that there is so much stuff that he has done that I haven't heard/seen yet. I just watched Under The Cherry Moon last week for the first time and now its one of my favorite movies Forever In My Life, forever in my heart. I love you Prince Rogers Nelson | |

I am new here too, feel pretty empty, but we have each other and the rest of the purple army to console with. I have just started to feel Prince's death when I was watching the interview with Jay Leno in 2001 last night. He was so beautiful and intelligent and seemed like the kind of person I'd want to be friends with. Someone pointed that out in the comments and I just started to bawl my eyes out. I would've loved to have had long conversations with P. I had not felt much emotions before that. I was pretty numb since he passed. I've also been in shock and denial.
Right now, I'm starting to regret having taken a break from him for 3 years. During that time he actually came to Texas and performed at a festival and I am so mad at myself for having missed that opportunity. I also regret being embarrassed to express my love for him all those years ago. Kids had always made fun of me when they'd find out that I liked Prince and they'd tell me the usual hater comments about him e.g. "Eww you like Prince? He's so weird and gay" and then they wouldn't want to talk to me or hang out with me because I was "weird". Even my parents would make fun of me for liking him. Bullying really screwed me up so I learned to shut up about my musical taste and other interests. As soon as I learned about his death I was shocked and then I became angry. I am new here too but his music has been my favourite for year. I have seen his concerts only twice and I have been happy about that. And the next concert was one of my biggest dream till that horrible April 21th. Sorry for mistakes, English is not my mother tongue. | |
