How do you feel about "Johnny-Come-Latelys" I guess it's good people are getting into Prince.
I've been going to yoga for maybe 5 years and I've always been keenly aware I've never heard one of the instructors play a SINGLE Prince song, not ONE and I've been to hundreds of 1 1/2 hour classes. Never a single Prince song.
Yesterday's class had some Prince and Prince covers.
I don't know.
How do you all feel about this?

1. Fuck em 2. I'm glad they weren't around when he was alive. Tickets were hard enough to get as it was. Join me under the waterfall

I welcome them, and I envy all the wonderful discoveries they have ahead of them.

awwwww. it hurts that he attracts more attention dead than alive, right now. the whole circus around his passing is hard to endure. . but i'm really glad that people are being drawn to his work. i love that he is bringing in new fans even though the timing is a bit tragic. . for their sakes he has a lot to offer. the world will always need his organic message of positivity and true funk in an increasingly digitized and artificial age. . so welcome to the newbies

The more people that hear this man's music, the better.

I don't care, and I feel embarrassed when I see little online memes or whatever putting people down for not beeing massiver Prince geeks or whatever.

I was lucky enough to have lived thru the Prince Experience. I feel sorry for them coming to his music at this point. I still welcome them - it's just their relationship to his music will be different then mine. Oh shit - I'm a Prince snob.

Welcome aboard the purple train, I say. People get into music for all sorts of reasons. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Ok as long as they're not raising my prices. No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ . He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

I feel great!
The more people identify as fans, the better for his legacy and ultimately for the interest of hardcore fans.
They won't bother releasing much vault material if they only see a market of 30,000 hardcore fans (and half of those are habitual seekers of illegal downloads).

I'm just glad I got back into Prince before his passing. From 2000 to 2013 I just lost interest. Even sold most of my cds. Then I got back into him a couple years ago and replenished by cd rack.
It doesn't matter to me if someone discovers rince post mortem. If there's enough interest it could mean lost of unreleased material coming out. I find it a bit creepy over someone else going through HIS vault but that's life...

I'm soooo jealous of new fans who haven't heard Sign o' the Times and still have yet to experience that first listen-through. Then again, as I write this I'm hearing Small Club for the first time, so it's all good.

For those that stick around beyond the immediate future, WELCOME!! They have so much to look forward to. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

The more the merrier! As long as they are listening to him because they are interested in his music and not because of the fact that he is gone and acting like they are a fan of his, I'm cool with it. I have been a fan of his since I was 16 and just started listening to him again a week before he passed and there's still stuff that I haven't seen and heard Forever In My Life, forever in my heart. I love you Prince Rogers Nelson

They're welcome. I mean...there are no more tickets to fight for, so... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'm fine with any newcomer, I just wish the forum wasn't filling up with threads with less than obvious titles end with..... so to try and drawn you into yet another outpouring. .

I just have a problem with bandwagoners. He passes and all of a sudden you're such a huge fan I posted this on FB the other day, got a chuckle out of it...

I am a saddened that it is his death that inspired them to listen, however I loved what Eyewishuheaven said "I welcome them, and I envy all the wonderful discoveries they have ahead of them." because it is so exciting to discover Prince with new eyes and ears - then maybe they will understand what we know to be true about this amazing, brilliant artist and person.
And that is the legacy that he wanted to be remembered for - his music. Plus, these youngin's need to be taught a thing or two! So I am excited when a "newbee" comes along. Who knows maybe one of these "newbees" will study him and become an icon themselves. Better late than not at all!

Only us die-hards know that all of Prince's movies were garbage apart from Graffiti Bridge.

You can ALWAYS tell a true admirer of Prince from one that is a "bandwagoner" (is that a word?). It's in the eyes - they light up and a big smile comes across their face and then the conversation begins.

How do I feel about them? Honestly, I'm jealous. Discovering Prince's music for the first time were some of the most magical moments of my life. Dig if U will the picture of U and Marvin Gaye and the kids.

Music is for everyone. Not just for those who found him on "Soft and Wet". Not just for those who found him on Purple Rain. Not for those who have a tattoo. Not just for those who went to the Celebration gigs in Chanhassen, or were NPGMC members. . His music is for E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E. . Goody that you* found him before the next guy. But there was someone who thought of you the same way with Springsteen, or Bowie, or Roxy Music, or James Brown, or Santana, or Zeppelin, etc. . Prince said repeatedly that music should uplift people. It should inspire them, and make them smile. That was always his goal. So when someone discovers that inspiration, whether before or after April 21, 2016, is what is important. Not that someone else found it first. . This is the worst part of being a Prince fan - the competition to see who knew about him first, or who has the most memorabilia, or the biggest vinyl collection, or who got to take a piss at Paisley Park.
