Prince fan to the rescue. Radiohead explained.
Sometimes you need a Prince fan to understand Radiohead. No worries, I'm here for the rescue.
Prince and Radiohead have a history. Prince wanted artists to be able to earn money with their work. That's why he was against free sharing on the internet. So, Prince wanted the video of him covering Creep at Coachella, offline. Radiohead claimed they owned the rights of the song, so made sure Prince his cover stayed online.
Remember Radiohead offering their new CD online, and we could pay whatever we thought it was worth? That was a clear statement in concordance with Prince his issues about getting paid for your work as a musician.
Prince did not sell his cd 2010 in stores. He just made a deal with a Belgian newspaper. When he gave a concert in Werchter, Belgium, the Saturday edition of the newspaper got the Prince CD 2010 folded inside. Radiohead then published a newspaper along with their new CD they sold in stores.
Now Prince is dead and all his music is pouring out all over internet. Radiohead takes all their work offline.
Well played Radiohead. Well played and a worthy ode to Prince. Thank you Radiohead.

I had the same thoughts when I saw Radiohead had removed everything (including tweets, facebook posts, etc) off the internet. They no longer have an internet presence, whatsoever. | |
