So many hilarious moments in the One Nite Alone... Live! album. I think it really displays his sense of humour. I love the part during "The Beautiful Ones" when he goes, "The beautiful ones always smash the picture. Always, everytime. Would you ever do that to me, baby?". Audience: [collectively] "NOOOOOOOOO!" Prince: "Yeah, right."

Dmsr in detroit: talking about mike scott:

"He looks like a pimp to me. He got a scarf on and everything...what gang are you in son?...he said Kool and the gang"

"I cant stand pimps...but i like that step"
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

About 33 minutes into the 1987 Concert with Miles Davis, Prince is finishing a song, guy comes up on stage with what looks like kite string, Prince looks up smiles, takes it and starts pulling it - guy comes back and helps him. Prince says into the microphone in the funniest voice ever, "Matthew come get your rope, get all of your rope. Modern technology" then presumably Matthew comes and gets it and Prince goes back to singing. Cracks me up totally, I love that part.

CNN showed a clip of Chris Rock interviewing Prince for something...

Chris Rock: Bad was a HUGE Hit for Michael, why wouldn't you do a Duet?

Prince: The first verse in that song says "Your Butt is Mine". I'm not gonna sing to you that your butt is mine and you're not gonna sing that to me....

That time he disguised himself as an old man for the Come On video, & harassed the unsuspecting. The look on bystanders faces, omg, then uttering something like, "I got the butter fo' your muffin, honey. But I'm too old to hold the knife..." lol Hands down my favorite moment, I always felt it got to the core of who he was--a talented goof, lol. I think it got him outside his over thinking head, ha. Let's not forget when he went on to prank Jay Leno as "Bob the carpenter" who wanted to fix the swivel of Jay's chair. Or when he was at Much Music & someone asked him about the vault & he joking called "security", thinking they were a bootlegger. Haha

I will miss his humour the most..

So many!! This isn't the funniest thing he's done, but my all-time favorite bit from an interview of his is the '98 BET interview with Tavis Smiley, when he says, "My microphone is on," and then stares straight into the camera. Oh my goodness. It's the first thing I could watch after the 21st, because I knew if anything had the chance of making me smile through my tears, it'd be that.

Also love the MN accent of the cop he does in "Zannalee," and the way he says "Good mornin', good mornin'!" in "Days of Wild."

How about the K-Funk Interview with Nadera.

Nadera: Good morning 2 u, it’s 12 o’clock, and 2 nite on our album hour we’re going to be featuring a young man named Prince. Also, he’s here with us in the studio and we’ll be talking 2 him a little about his success … he’s come a long way … and he’s also from Minneapolis. Good morning Prince. How u doing?

Prince: Fine

Nadera: So how does it feel to have a have a hit album, and also, um, a hit single, Soft & Wet. U know a lot of people have been wondering about the title. If u could give us a little background…and how u came up with that and how u developed it.

Prince: It happened shortly after my mother died. I felt her cold corpse, came up with the title.

Nadera: Well that’s remarkable. I think that it’s great that a man with your talent … u seem 2 have a lot going 4 u. U r listening to KQRS, this is our album … we’re having a little problem

Prince: (in the background) Go 2 a commercial

Nadera: We’ll be right back

HAHAHAHA

One thing he said that I think got lost on the host, was when he was on Rosie O'Donnell's talk show. (I loved that show.) She was joking and calling him TAFKAP or Taffy. I think he might have been a tad embarrassed about it all, because his name change was bigger for him than a joke.

.

She called him Taffy, and he said "You know what that rhymes with don't you?" She went through half the alphabet trying to figure it out. She finally gave in. "What does it rhyme with?" "Goodnight!"

.

To me, it was a tad bit of gentle shade in that "you best move on, heifer". It didn't seem like she or the audience got the joke, but needless to say, she moved onto another subject.

.

Also, if memory serves, there was an interview somewhere (maybe that one in Paris in 1985?) where he's talking about calling Andre Cymone up, because he's written "Dance Electric". He had his "throw me out onto the streets huh?" thing in his voice when he said he told Andre "You need this. You neeed dis. Dis a hit. You need dis!"

yes it was from what became the 1985 MTV interview. And he saw him at a disco... you know I got this hit... it's funky...don't walk away you not crazy (like from if you see me)... i;m crazy... come over? about noon? you ani't mad? Cool... (but it's neen 20 years since i saw it)

i found a transscript: (not sure it is 100%)

You gave Andre Cymone the song, "Dance Electric," for his new album, and we know that you two had some kind of falling out a few years back. When and how did you patch things up?

I saw him in a discotheque one night and grabbed him by his shirt and said, [at this point, Prince reenacts the scene down to the last facial gesture], "Come on, I got this hit. You know I got this hit, don't you? "Dance Electric"? Yeah, it's great. You need it, you need it. no... Hey, come here, don't you play, hey, no, no, no you're not crazy, I'm crazy. I'm the one that's crazy, K? What chu gonna do? You gonna come by? For real? You ain't mad or nothing? So what? Yeah tomorrow. Noon. Cool."

This is weirdly similar to the monologue that Prince does at the end of his version of Do Yourself A Favor in his Jamie Starr voice, how intriguing hmmm

His Twitter banter had me in stitches. Wish I'd screenshot them like others did but he deleted so damn fast. But ones that stick in my memory:

A tweet to Prince with a pic of what looked a very well done pancake:
Q: what do you recommend I put on my pancake?
Prince: A SHEET?

Tweets from Prince

"Want, Build, Release....."

Twitter goes crazy with all sorts of innuendos, what Prince songs they play in the bedroom, it was hilarious..

Second Tweet from Prince: "Yes, Come!"

A little while after these tweets Prince did a Playlist entitled 'Always'....because it always works! I love the idea he did that because of these tweets and the hilarious banter that went on.

In Greensboro, North Carolina during the Welcome 2 America tour and he was bringing people on stage to dance, he was telling Shelby J to find him some healthy women with big butts, not skinny women. After she brought a few up on stage and they were bringing more up, Prince remarked that he needed to move to Greensboro because we had some healthy women down here. So funny when he exclaimed (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Ya'll must be eating collard greens and sweet potatoes." The crowd loved it. smile

The song, Movie Star is hilarious- "This is not like them house parties we used to go to"... "I wonder if they got potato chips in this MF"

Even seeing The Time, shows Princes comedic nature. If you guys didnt know, it was Prince that made that pimpish morris day character.
