My top 3:
Super Bowl Halftime Show

"Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

"We had fun, didn't we?"

The first appearance with Dick Clark
The Ellen appearances
The Bryant Gumbel interview for the today show.
Soul Train
The 1991 VMA's with that sexy yellow assless jumpsuit!
The Oprah Show
Lopez Tonight
The Tavis Smiley show.
There is this really weird interview for what could be 1994 where Prince has this big fluffy beaded blanket on his face and he's not answering questions. Mayte is pretty much his mouthpiece during the interview. I think it was for either the CBC or BBC.
The new girl appearance
The prince impersonator at the beginning of "Scary Movie" which was probably put in by Carmen at the last minute.

I forgot the Ellen appearences and the Tavis Smiley one!!

Also, not so much for the performance itself, but for the attitude he displayed, when he appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman performing Dinner With Delores, cos it was barely audible, and at the end he mumbled "Free TLC" and stormed off!! Also his first appearence on that show performing Dolphin when David Letterman held up a copy of The Gold Experience album and said it wasnt going to be released!!LOLOL

I would say his first appearance on Arsenio in 1991. A Prince takeover of a nightly talk show was unheard of, and it was full of great performances and really built up the hype for the release of Diamonds and Pearls. He looked and sounded great.

I know that I am gonna get awfully flamed for this, but to me, and this is just my own personal opinion, nothing more, nothing less, but the Superbowl Halftime Show just didnt sit right with me!! I dunno, there was just something so wrong about it, but to me it seemed like he reached an all time low and was just pandering to the huge corporate world and commercialism (albeit,of the NFL) that in the past he was so dead against and even sung about its evils(Listen to Corporate World), and was obviously paid BIG BUCKS for his services, plus the fact that it was an awful performance(rain aside), where he performed more covers than his own material!!I think it was a very desperate attempt to get his worldwide fame back as during the early part of the last decade it was slowly dwindling!!

As I said, this is just my OWN PERSONAL VIEW and should be taken with a HUGE grain of salt!!!

Absolute best TV performance ever is The American Music Awards in L.A. from 1-30-95. Love the dance moves and overall performance then the look he gives Mayte at the end is the hottest thing ever!! There's some pics from it at: http://prince.org/msg/7/4...?&pg=5 you have to scroll about 3/4's of the way down the page - well worth scrolling for. drool3

I used to love his Solid Gold performances when I was a kid. I think there were two but I know they use to the play the 1999 one all the time. And the AMA where he did for me his best Purple Rain performance ever back in 85.

The 2004 Leno interview with Mel Gibson - it's quite amusing to see the awkward reaction from Mel Gibson! wink

The MTV 1987 awards performance. Most of the crowd in the front had no idea what the songs were, but he received a nice ovation. I also liked the "Dolphin" performance on David Letterman. He cracked me up (after commercial) when he asked Paul "is he gonna be OK?"...Supposedly P was put off by Letterman's jokes of the name change so he found a way to exit out after the song.

In no particular order:

American Bandstand - Even though I was taken back by his responses to Dick Clark's questions, I still remember being mesmerized by him.

Superbowl halftime performance

VH1's Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame's guitar performance of "While My Guitar Weeps".

The Sacrafice of Victor

The Beautiful Experience

Musicology (Acoustic session)

Oprah's interview where he opened up about having two sides (and their both friends)

Septimo - especially the Motherless Child performance

VH1 Honors - where he cried at the end of his performance; always thought I knew why he cried, but now I'm not so sure.

Jay Leno - Dreamer.
The last Superbowl he performed.
All the music awards P received and presented.
The Today show performance - got that recorded.
Prince and Mayte on Oprah.
And the fact that he live casted the Rave 1999 show from his home. A New Years I didn't mind staying home for.

The one that really pulled me in was that VH1 show where he played Endorphinmachine and Interactive while Mayte danced around barefoot. It was like they had descended from another planet, it was all so flawless, weird and amazing.

Yeah I forgot to mention that also - the performance with Tom Petty of My Guitar Gently Weeps was beyond amazing. Absolutely fantastic! As far as the comments Purple Spirit made about the Super Bowl - I liked it but kept wondering how he wasn't getting electrocuted. I didn't feel like he was selling out just making music people were enjoying and looking damn good doing it! I loved the confidence he projected. What an amazing performer!

My favorite TV moment is on one of the Leno appearances where Leno says something about how he's going to wake up naked and chained to a light post and Prince let's out the most infectious laugh.

Dortmund 1988 and Parade Tour 1986 (I believe it was recorded in Detroit?), where either Jerome or Prince himself had his birthday (do not exactly remember).

Just wanted to say I have Comcast for cable. If you do a search for Prince, there are some videos that are free to watch. I've watched, When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette, 1999 and a few others. It was nice to see them on an actual TV again, since I don't have any DVDs of Prince's videos.

My #1 favorite is the Under The Cherry Moon premier in Sheridan, WY. Such a small stage!

Martha Quinn "We are in a Purple Haze..." as they cut away. The rest of that performance must be out there right...

Yes This was incredible. This Prince at his space flowerchild phase. Very Ziggy and alien. Damn shame he ditched this whole theme and went for the a mundane, R&B/POP radio vibe for Emancipation.
