I'm Starting To Feel For Tyka.... Like a lot of fans, when the rumors about Prince not having a will first started to surface, my first emotional thought was "Damn, I don't want Tyka to be in control of this." Now that I have actually had time to think about it, have had conversations with my father and have read some truly horrible things toward her here and elsewhere I have to say..... I really feel sorry for her.
I'm not sure how many of you have ever had to deal with the affairs of a deceased love one, but having seen both of my parents deal with my grandparent's (who didn't even have a fifth of what Prince had) I can tell you: it's not fun, it's not easy and time is of the essence.
Bills don't stop coming just because someone died. The people at the power company may have sympathy for you.... but the bill is still due. Phone bills.... have to be paid. Creditors have to be notified and sent copies of the death certificate. Employees have to be paid. Assets have to be accounted for. And if you're a notoriously private person like Prince, with numerous personal and real properties, possibly in multiple countries AND a locked vault(s) that contain who knows what, the difficulty increases.
I think some of you have this image of Tyka sitting with her heels up, laughing all the way to the bank. Although she and Prince's siblings stand to inherit large sums of money in the future, the truth is Tyka is probably more stressed now than she has ever been in her life. Can you even imagine what going through Prince's financial matters must be like? Doesn't sound like a blast to me regardless of how much much she can make later on.
I believe Tyka should be given a little bit of faith and support by Prince fans. So far she has done nothing wrong and honestly seems to be doing things appropriate to the complicated situation she has been put in. Who knows, in the end she may do a better job of managing his affairs than Prince did while he lived. [Edited 4/28/16 4:43am]

agreed 100%. People need to stop talking about her past...hell we've all done things were not proud of.

Exactly! When my mother died, I had to arrange the funeral, the inheritance and covering all sorts of costs. In Tyka's case, add the responsibilities of handling Prince's artistic legacy and media attention (people get angry at her even for holding a bag of cheetos)and the stress of dividing it all equally over all the half-brothers and sisters. No, tthis is not an easy time for her.

I think you are right. So far she has done the right things. She has requested an administrator to look after the affairs of Paisley Park Enterprises until such time as a decision on who inherits the fortune is made.
To be honest, it will be some of the more distant relatives that could be a problem. Its amazing how suddenly long lost friends re-appear when there is a $300million fortune at stake.

I think every move she made from the moment he died were just what he wanted. She did right by him. "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

You ain't lying there is a very lot of stuff that has to be tended to!

The only thing I had a problem with was the Flamin' Hot Cheetos at the crematorium, but I'm over it. I actually like the fact that she's not spoken to the media; not even to correct them. If she was a gold-digger she could have made millions in just a few days by blabbing to reporters - and she hasn't. I just hope she listens to the right people when making her decisions as Special Administrator. That is all.

Agreed. I was hearten by her quick action to appoint a professional adminstrator.

The bank is handling all of that...for a maximum of 6 months. After that someone must be appointed special administrator. She should be a lot more settled, then.

But it's not just tyka. Unless she is very knoweldage on these areas she is like us and we all need people around us to point us in the right direction and give best advice .
So i guess her husband, prince's friends are helping her make the right choices.

Difficult time for Tyka her heart will have broken. Whatever she decides will never please some. I hope she can be strong and stops the sharks in tracks. In time I think Tyka will protect Prince's legacy. Family's have many ups and downs but when it comes to family you become a protective lioness (lion). Prayers to Tyka and family we may hurt but they are hurting more than us.

all these half siblings she has to deal with too.

I feel for her because Prince didn't leave a will which means she is going to have to be savvy.

Myheart is breaking ofr her. She lost her brother. I know what thats like. He was her blood family. No matter what happened to her, or to him. He was her big brother. I sought therapy after my brother passed. I couldn't deal, at all. Shes doing incredibly and doing right by him swiftly.

Agree with you! Money is good, but the more money you have the more you have to account for. Tons of bills, tons of responsibility, tons of people at your door and a few of people to trust! May Tyka and siblings be blessed and protected by Guardian Angels! Luli

I'm very impressed with how she's handled this so far - asking for the administrator, not blabbing to the media, etc. And, this has got to simply be overhwelming. She's Prince's only full-blood living relative (I think). Imagine having to handle things in the wake of such an icon passing (the money, the music rights, the half-siblings, the possible lawsuits, and on and on), never mind dealing with your own grief at the same time, and the expectations of fans, and the curiosity/trolling/intrusiveness of a 24 hour media/social media structure.
I don't know much about her other than she had some drug issues, she wasn't always on great terms with Prince, but like a ton of other families (raises hand), they overcome their shit and worked it out.
Yeah, she's gonna get paid, but I don't begrudge her that. If Prince really didn't want any family members to get anything he would have spelled that out in a will. And, while it's still early, she really does seem like she wants what's best for his legacy in the long run - how he will be remembered, how his music will be curated.
I'm rooting or her. [Edited 4/29/16 12:59pm]
