Is the amount of songs in the Vault a MYTH? 2000 songs? I mean, I hope so. But we've heard about this massive Vault for so long. So why have we gotten a lot of retread material in the past when it was billed as gems from the Vault? Crystal Ball is the perfect example:
How U Wanna B Done - from the Continental Rippop.... - already released on the soundtrack for that stripper movie. The Dark Remix Interactive - released on the PC game These are just a few examples. Are the Vault contents that expansive, or is it something Prince was just saying to add to his mystery and mystique? [Edited 5/27/16 20:00pm]

Your guess is as good as mine but I absolutely do not believe there are even 1,000 uniue completed tracks in the vault. Probably lots and lots of alternates and tracks cannibalized by others. I honestly believe a lot of the godo stuff has already leaked. At least the WB years.

Well unreleased songs stopped circulating in 1996 right? So that's 20 years of unreleased songs there . I honestly believe there are 1000 completed unreleased songs in the vault.if not a thousand ,its close to that number There's Joy in repetition

I strongly believe it's a myth but that's just a hunch I have. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

That's interesting, 1996? I have noticed there's not a lot of leaked stuff from that point on

Well if there anything like the dreck found on "Slaughterhouse" & "Chocolate Invasion" I ain't interested. Plus lots of bootlegged tracks like "Work That Fat" & "Come Out And Play" are garbage.

The vault is huge. It's not just a tiny room. when Susan visited PP in the 90's she said the vault was almost full. Jimmy Jam said there are thousands of songs

Because there is so much stuff widely available now. I think many highlights of the vault are already in circulation. . And at the same time, this is what makes it such a thrill to hear a new leak. Time will tell. Even if all we ever got from the vault were pristine copies of existing leaks, I'd be happy. [Edited 5/27/16 22:00pm] "..free to change your mind"

Didn't he say or it was rumored that for every music video he did, he did a second video with the same set that he put right in the vault? I'm sure I heard this at one point and if that's true that would be awesome!

I don't know if 2000 songs is an exaggeration or if that number is a conservative estimate but one thing I find a little strange is that there's been hundreds of leaked studio outtakes (not including remixes or live performances) but they're all old songs. What about outtakes from the likes of 3121, Lotusflow3r, Musicology etc. Or songs that were never considered for any particular album. Since the year 2000 he's released something like 13 albums so there must be a decent amount of songs recorded for those we don't know about. Plus, there's bound to be songs from the 80's and 90's we've never heard. Its possible that they could all add up to about 1000, maybe more. Then, factor in the remixes, alternate versions and songs he did for other bands like the Time. Its possible that The Time's albums with Prince's vocals, are in the vault. Then all the live shows he's recorded over the years. It could easily add up to 2000 or more. Either way, it's still a lot of music.
