Imperfect, Perfect

Hard to believe that the man that, along with Bowie and others, walked me through some tough times when I was a teenager and indeed as an adult. He didn't know me and I didn't know him. I only knew his music and I listened to him more than any other artist.

I was ridiculed for liking him, everyone else was listening to whatever was popular at the time. I just did what I wanted and I ended up on the outside, at least it felt that way. Having Dortmund, Sign of the Times, and the Parade concert on VHS was amazing.

When Lovesexy came to the UK and the UK press went into overdrive lots of the local lads started talking about him and saying he was cool. That was over as soon as he was out of the tabloids. I just carried on and went everywhere singing 'If I had a harem (Blues in C)'. It made me so happy and I even had a tambourine from the London concert in Wembley Arena.

We don't envisage the end. It is not the end for his music and the meories that go along with that music. I used to dream of meeting him. My dreamers dictionary says that it means 'help will come'. It did, in one form or another and I hope that wherever he may be that his music will live with all of us, in different ways, throughout all of time.

Something I wrote for you all below.

Imperfect, Perfect

A door opened

A man stepped beyond the visible

Into the space after

He stepped and in that moment became immortal.

Though dying, not dead

Gone elsewhere, another truth to seek

A brave path forged.

A man

But what a man!

Flawed and perfect at the same time

Hard and soft, ear sublime

Not a god, not an angel

Not a devil, nor a priest

A man

Closed and open

Carving into the tree

Words that whisper, ask and answer

Mark left, legend born

Any faults that may be found

To us

Perfect the form.

Wonderful piece. I was also ridiculed for liking Prince and his music. I liked his music because it spoke to me. It expressed my moods, elaborated on thoughts I had. It's a gift humankind will be able to enoy for eternity.

Thank you.

Keep on going, the storm won't last forever.
