Turn it UP. Not worth it.

well. I finally forked over those large $$$'s and bought Turn it Up. While it's very informative and enjoyable... i'm disappointed. I think it's overpriced for its size...

What think u all?

It's only overpriced because we aren't from Sweden. I've worked there and when i came home i lived like a king on what i earned..well kinda. To visit there though, holy shit it's expensive. It's not Uptowns fault. They just happen to be based in one of the most expensive countries in the world(if you live outside it!)

only because i expected a bit more for the price... i dunno. maybe something a bit longer, or hard-cover at least. But I guess it makes sense that it would cost alot since Uptown is based in Sweden. I dunno. I think $50.00 books and I think big glossy hardcover coffee table books.

But having said that, it is definitely a great resource.

you didnt get all the extra stuff for 50? The subscription to Uptown, Days o Wild extras etc? When it was new they had some special deals with it.

What were you expecting?

It's not a coffee table book with pretty pictures, it's an informational piece.

the text could have been enlarged and there could have been more illustrations, not to mention the CD-ROM could be much easier to navigate...all these factors give a real feeling of cutting corners left and right...but as far as just getting as much info crammed into a skinny little book and getting it to the readers, ya gotta give ol' Per N. some credit for doing it the most exhaustively. maybe one day he'll be able to put together a book that can be both an informational piece AND a coffee table book...i'd love to see him hook up one day, wayyy down the line, with genesis publications, who recently published a FANTASTIC book on ziggy stardust...

Let's hope that one is not going to sell for £295 a pop

It's worth every last coin, believe me...from the craftsmanship to the design to the photography to the multiple paper stocks to the fact that the book's essays were authored by Bowie himself (not to mention each copy was autographed!), it's a worthy indulgence.

I flipped through it when I first got it, looked up misc. info maybe twice since. The stuff on the cd-rom made it worth it, I might have felt a little gipped otherwise. BTW, I didn't get a subscription to Uptown w/ mine sad

ChickenLittle

Everything that Uptown releases costs more than it should. $50 for Turn It Up when it should have cost half that. $50 for a subscription to a magazine that comes out once every 3-4 months is outlandish.
