Joshua's the only one who knows what was in the works recently to be released.
Prince liked to hype up the vault because he could use it to negotiate with record companies.
There's probably even more unreleased mixes than unreleased songs.
Getting access to the vault - the insurance company probably wants an inventory, and the court wants to see if there was a will left in there.
It's also possible Prince had put his parents' stuff in the vault when they passed, and the family wants it.I'm sure the things he gave his mom as gifts, he didn't want someone to go to a pawn shop and sell it.

You don´t take that list seriously, do you? But I must admit it did sound credible for a few seconds....but the more I read, the more it dawned on me that the author was just teasing and messing with us. Under the Apple Tree? UTCM part 2? Robin? A climate change party album? The inclusion of some existing rarities such as the 3121 movie made me re-read some of the things mentioned on this list but.....nah....he´s just bullshitting. Some of these items certainly seem quite crazy, but no crazier than music for a musical film starring Nick Nolte... and we know that happened!

Some things on that list are highly unbelievable, I don't buy it. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

There were probably 99 things in the vault after the first 3 months of its existence, so right there we have a problem. "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

Wait until you hear the collaboration between Prince and 50 Cent that ends abruptly with Prince yelling, "First of all, who the hell are you callin' 'Shorty?!' Second of all, I'm a Jehovah's Witness and I don't party on my birthday!" Dig if U will the picture of U and Marvin Gaye and the kids.

This made me laugh out loud even while the rumor mill is circling!!!!! But would that be funny? Are there any more recent photos? Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

Most things on the list look credible to me.If indeed this list is legit, that probably means Bremer Trust has shown to be not qualified taking care of business since the list must have leaked from someone inside the company.

OK, but seriously: Have they actually been able to open the Vault? Are they inventorying everything? (which I know will take them a while.) But has anyone really heard anything?
RIP Prince. We will NEVER forget you. Thank you so much.

Prince said there was more than one vault, but did they only open one of them? Welcome 2 The Dawn

A list of the full completed albums would be good. I heard that most of the stuff, especially the old material was recorded on tapes that lose quality over time and eventually become unplayable. Prince would have converted all this into digital format wouldn't he? He wouldn't have just let it all degrade like that I mean.

To be fair, in reality we do have a song called Oak Tree and a song called Pickle.

I´ve mentioned this on other threads but, to answer your question....HM Buff, a German engineer who worked with Prince during the Emancipation era, has repeatedly said that he was very concerned about those old tapes because they were rotting away and , according to Buff, Prince was not really interested in preserving the songs on them. In order to save that music, you would have to bake the tapes , which would make them playabable for one or two times maximum, and then you´d have to digitalize them in order to save the music on them. Some professionals actually use a fruit drying machine to bake the tapes, some use other equipment but I have read that some of those dryers to make dried fruits are perfect for baking old tapes since the reels fit into those dryers perfectly. Keep in mind though that Buff said this in interview after he stopped working with Prince, and if he was right we would not have gotten some of the music that did get released, like some of those mid 80s songs on the Crystal Ball compilation. So maybe there´s not really much to worry about. Also keep in mind that Prince used some old material from the vault for his NPGMC Ahdio shows, like a snippet of a Parade concert that was recorded in 1986 in Hamburg, Germany. If the tapes were really unplayable and rotting away, he would not have been able to use the contents for his NPGMC shows.

- It also depends on what kinds of tape were used. According to Joe "Vaultmeister" Travers, who oversees and preserves the tapes in Frank Zappa's vault, Frank used every kind of tape there was over the course of his career and some kinds of tapes degrade faster than others. The new owners of Prince's vault are going to need an expert like Joe to make those determinations without fucking anything up. If it becomes necessary to bake the tapes then they're only going to have one shot to get it right. - Joe Travers and Alex Winter are currently scanning and digitizing everything from Frank's vault. They raised the money through a highly successful Kickstarter campaign. Perhaps the heirs to Prince's vault can do the same.

I would laugh so hard if the majority of the stuff in the "vault" was most the stuff from the "ivault" that's been available for some time anyway now.

Thanks for the info, hopefully the music is released at some point.

Gonna stick my neck out here and say... most of the stuff in the Vault should never see the light of day, I have hundreds of unreleased songs. Without doubt some are absolute gems BUT a lot of them are awful. Curiosities at best but certainly not worthy of release. Prince was music and lived for music. His leisure time was spent recording or performing (and recording what he performed) but this was often just for fun. can't really speak for what was recorded post Warner Bros as Prince's security seemed to miraculously tighten up once he was out of contract...but I reckon I have the vast majority of unreleased material from the WB years. the general quality of material from the 80s outstrips the material from the 90s for my money (remember he officially released vastly more material during the 90s compared to the 80s suggesting that what was left in the vault was literally the out takes and left overs. Anyway, no doubt there is a good number of quality tracks that can be carefully curated and released that will enhance Prince's legacy but I truly and genuinely hope the rest does not come out as IMHO it could damage his legacy. 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.
