I'm entirely for the "leave as it is" politics, but there is some stuff that would benefit from additional work. Here's some examples. [Edited 4/28/16 7:56am] The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

"In the emergency court filing Tuesday, Tyka Nelson asked a Minnesota court to appoint Bremer Trust, a Minneapolis-based wealth management firm that had handled Prince’s finances for many years, as special administrator of Prince’s estate. An organization well-equipped to oversee the star’s finances seems a smart way to proceed."
.
That's a great thing to do, they have handled his finances and know how he worked. The thing that is crazy is that they have drilled into the vault. I dunno about this, but taking an inventory of his items is just for monetary goods right? They aren't going to count any of the music in there are they? [Edited 4/28/16 7:56am]

That will never happen. People would rip the vocals only and tracks for their own use eg, dance remixes. I can't see that ever happening, it would be good though.

"The decisive moment had arrived. With trembling hands I made a tiny breach in the upper left hand corner. Darkness and blank space, as far as an iron testing-rod could reach, showed that whatever lay beyond was empty, and not filled like the passage we had just cleared. Candle tests were applied as a precaution against possible foul gases, and then, widening the hole a little, I inserted the candle and peered in, Lord Carnarvon, Lady Evelyn [Lord Carnarvon's daughter] and Callender [an assistant] standing anxiously beside me to hear the verdict. At first I could see nothing, the hot air escaping from the chamber causing the candle flame to flicker, but presently, as my eyes grew accustomed to the light, details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues, and gold - everywhere the glint of gold. For the moment - an eternity it must have seemed to the others standing by - I was struck dumb with amazement, and when Lord Carnarvon, unable to stand the suspense any longer, inquired anxiously, 'Can you see anything?' it was all I could do to get out the words, 'Yes, wonderful things.' http://m.timesofindia.com...996237.cms Former Prince engineer wants vault music released The sound engineer who helped create Prince's legendary vault stuffed with decades of unreleased songs believes his secret horde should be opened up and made available to historians, scholars and fans. "For me personally, I'd say why not?" Susan Rogers told AFP in a telephone interview. "Music is an expression of life and let's hear these expressions of Prince's life." Until recently, its existence was shrouded in mystery, part of the myth that built up around Prince. But its fate has become a hot topic of conversation since his unexpected death at age 57 last week. The question of future releases is likely to be thorny as Prince had no surviving children, no current wife, no living parents and fiercely guarded his creative control. It is also not known if he left a will. "I think that it would be nice for historians and fans and scholars if someone went through that material," said Rogers, who worked as Prince's sound engineer from 1983-1987. "I'd like to see the music put in the hands of the people who knew him best artistically and that would be the musicians who worked with him through different eras." Rogers suggested that musicians with whom he worked in the 1980s and 1990s be allowed to finish unreleased songs in the style that they worked back then. "I think that would be lovely," she said. Regardless of whether Prince wanted his music to see the light of day, Rogers believes there should be a debate. "Maybe the artist is not thinking clearly about his legacy; there's a moral issue there and it's something we should be talking about." It was Rogers who started the vault, collecting his tapes and starting to catalog them while Prince was working on "Purple Rain." - Perhaps a cloud - A temperature-controlled storage room was then added to plans for Paisley Park. The weather-proof room had a door from a bank vault complete with a combination lock, Rogers said, and was filled with analogue tapes. When she last saw the vault in the 1990s it was full. She hopes the analogue has since been transferred to digital but doesn't know how much material is still under lock and key. "Perhaps the vault is now in a cloud somewhere. I have no idea." Rogers knows firsthand the talent that drove one of the most innovative artists of his generation, the boy from an underprivileged background in north Minneapolis who became a multimillionaire and won his first record deal at just 19. Working for him in 1983 was "my dream come true," she said. His capacity for work was prolific. They could be in the studio for 24 to 48 hours at a time, even 96 hours on one memorable occasion. Prince did not use music notation or write music formally. Instead, he would work through his ideas by recording. "If he wasn't taking care of conducting business... or if he wasn't dating or seeing someone socially, which would be less often than you might think, for the most part, Prince had an instrument in his hands and he was playing music," she said. On tour, he would sound-check for hours, perform, then play a secret all-night after-party or go into a studio or a mobile truck and record all night. "Four hours of sleep in those days was a full night's sleep to him." She silences any suggestion that Prince ever used recreational drugs. READ ALSO:Police launch murder probe into Prince's death? - Make you laugh - "Prince was philosophically, morally and physiologically opposed to recreational drug use," she said. He coped through any bout of illness by taking medicine and never pausing to rest or to stop work. If he was taking pain medication as reports suggest, Rogers said it would have been only so he could continue to work. "That may have covered symptoms of just how ill he actually was." She remembered him as compassionate and warm, and while he worked quickly and efficiently, he could "really make you laugh." Rogers recalls a time when the crew was talking about someone being "an asshole," when Prince walked in. "And Prince said let's get something straight, there's only one asshole around here and it's me!" "If he was paying you, you were available to him 24-seven. We worked Christmas, we worked New Year's Eve, we worked Thanksgiving," she said. The end came in 1987, after one night when Prince couldn't get hold of her because she was out on a date. "He was really angry about that," she said. "I couldn't do it any more. I just couldn't." She last saw him in the late 1990s. "Every time I saw him after I left, it was warm and affectionate and I realized how much I deeply, deeply cared about him." But it was his creative output and the fact that he did it alone, which stands out for her. "That was extraordinary and will not be equaled any time soon," she said.

I think they should dump the lot, wikileaks style, straight onto the Web. In whatever state it is in. Of course, while there's money to be made, it'll be "managed".

The results will be unsealed following any criminal proceedings or 180 days from the April 28 filing, whichever occurs first. October 25th we can finally find out whats in those vaults

This clearly sounds like he DID want his vault material to be released, and maybe even released as it is, without messing with the lyrics or music. And it seems that a lot of material is ready to be released. So...we don´t really have to feel bad about wanting vault stuff. I am a bit worried that the vault material will not be managed by the right people. I think a long term project like this needs some involvement from ex-bandmembers and contributors such as Wendy and Lisa, Susan Rogers to some extent (though I would´t really know what her job would be since most of the engineering work seems to be done), and of course some long time fans with vast knowledge about his body of work. I´m thinking of Langebleue, Boris, also people from the Uptown team, Per Nilsen etc. I am also worried that many of the tapes have deteriorated. They were already in dire need of baking and digitalizing them in 1996 when HM Buff was still working at Paisley. And he said back then that Prince did not really care about that. On the other hand Prince has used old songs for samples, so I am not sure to what extent HM Buff was right. - The current folks who are talking in the media don´t strike me as the right people to be trusted with taking care of such a huge amount of material. I don´t care who profits from the vault financially, I don´t mind the family members getting the money and Paisley or Sheila E ...but most of the people I saw being interviewed in the media since Prince passed away simply don´t seem to know much about his music. I remember when Larry Graham became part of Prince´s camp and he wasn´t even remotely familiar with Prince´s music.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

In all seriousness I'd much rather hear it how it is, how Prince left it, rather than have it remixed or re-engineered. It'll need some help to be mastered properly but that's about it. Whack the lot on the Web, you can take my money now if you want...

Locksmith Drills Into Secret Vault at Paisley Park! The investigation surrounding Prince's death continues.
The District Court of Carver County in Minnesota has issued an order to seal all findings from a recently-issued search warrant into Prince's Paisley Park Studios, where the 57-year-old superstar died last week. The results will be unsealed following any criminal proceedings or 180 days from the April 28 filing, whichever occurs first.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness tells ET that a locksmith was spotted at Paisley Park on Wednesday. According to local media in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the locksmith was hired by Bremer Bank, the recently appointed special administrator of Prince's estate, to drill into the singer's secret vault. The vault is said to house Prince's original recordings, many of which have never been released. Upon reaching out for further details, Bremer Bank told ET "it respects the privacy of our customers and it is our policy not to reveal the names of our customers or information related to requests for services. As a community focused company, our sympathies are with family and fans in mourning the loss of a talented musician and Minnesotan."

It was just on the ABC evening news. Nothing reported about what's inside, but that the bank was having it drilled open. They showed a quick shot of a blueprint, where one section says "TAPE VAULT B9" Tape Storage was B8. Storage B7, etc. The B stands for Basement level. . They touched on the DEA being involved, and a snip of Sheila saying he'd damaged his body over the years jumping off risers with heels on. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

No, the warrant has nothing to do with the inventory Bremer is taking of the Vault.

This makes me cringe. Prince's choices were never a Susan Rogers concern and calling it a 'moral' issue is inflated. Clean drinking water is a moral issue. Susan Rogers getting to hear unreleased Prince tunes is a first world problem.

This is freaking me out. This Bank drilling into my man's life's work. I just have flashes of all those stories of lost films due to them not being properly cared for. These Bankers better not lose or ruin any of this material. The Vault is the only thing that has given me any comfort in this past week. Man if anything were to happen to that stuff while in their care it would feel like losing him all over again. I just can't wait for this whole process to be over and I know he's legacy has a home and is being cared for. 1980-Present

Given the bullshit tabloid nature of a website called ALLHIPHOP.COM, take this news with a grain of salt.
According to their sources, Prince has 2-3 full albums with Stevie Wonder and 1-2 albums with Miles Davis.
That is all.
Love you to the soul that was Prince...wherever you are in the universe.
Peace and love in the life of all Prince.orgers.
