Fantastic boot! Can't say enough about how great it is to hear this. Groove in A is SLAMMIN! And that's Prince playing the bass with Mark, as well as on High Fasion.

You're rigth! Great combo!

It'sinteresting that whatever instrument Prince is on, that instrument takes center stage. It's the same with the drums on the Flesh sessions.

Yeah, he is always the focus, the Teacher Teacher

WOW who needs reissues/remasters when we have gems like these. A real shame prince sits on these - thank god for the leaks

I just it so am digesting it, but just wanted to say the Vanity live show from new york is quite an eye opener - I thought it would be a bit boring, them singing or even miming over the album tracks, but no they are live arrangements (by Prince obviously). amazingly funky and an improvement on the flat album versions. Prince even shares vocals on if a girl answers (was he hiding backstage?)

I would even put Something In The Water in the "masterpiece" file cabinet, not only a gem. I still can't believe it sounds this good.

Ok, Something In The Water. Oh lawd!!!! And I don't even like the song on 1999. But this piece right here is something else. Transcending to say the least. It's as essential in my ears as PR or SOTT. On that level of musicianship. My god I'm blown away. And I'm not even half through. I've never experienced any nirvana state of mind in my short years of a Princefan outside his main work. Just a few times. But now I get why I am a Princefan. I get it now!! I fucking get it!!!!

I think the story behind that tour is that the Time would stay backstage and perform as Vanity 6's backing band, so Prince could well have joined them to do the phone conversation bit on If A Girl Answers, I don't know for sure though, hopefully someone else more knowledgable about this kind of thing can enlighten us smile

i went to this show....it was amazing. it was an interesting Easter Sunday.

Is this a rehearsal to a specific show?

Just to be clear, this is the sound check in the afternoon before the last Purple Rain tour show in Miami. Not a rehearsal. This is, from what I have been told, what many of the Purple Rain tour sound checks were like. They were the chance for Prince and The Revolution to play something other than songs they had been playing for months and months and were all bored as hell with.

One reads all the time about Prince's sense of humour, well this really gives one an inside view of it. His joking can be very playful as it is here with Wendy and Steve F. It also can be very cutting and mean spirited.

I think what makes this sound check so grand is that one can almost feel a pallpable sense of relief that the tour was ending that night. It was a grueling tour and everyone worked very hard. So here they are playing in peak form for the enjoyment of no one other than themselves. One may also put forth that this represented the peak of The Revolution. After this they would never be as close, as tight or as unified.

And remember, never pay anyone other than Prince for his music.

Why wouldn't anybody be proud of stuff this good? Soundchecks that sound like great concerts from heaven. The stuff people pay for never sound this good. Sadly. Oddly, he always held back when it counted,.

I know, right?!?

I was totally focused on the soundcheck & not expecting much from V6, but, fuk if I'm not loving this set! I noticed Prince on vocals too and was wondering the same thing you are.

Without checking Princevault I'm assuming this is from the triple threat tour. If so, bring on The Time & Prince's sets, too!!

Thanks so much to whomever leaked these 2 sets, to 4DF & FBG for putting together top notch presentations, and to those that shared. You all deserve worship

Actually I think this shows their tightness into 1986
especially with all those (unreleased) studio cut/jams from 1985-1986
This spirit is carried into the end of the year Paris 1985 where America was videoed

Yeah that cutting cockiness got Prince a reality check with Under the Cherry Moon

I've never paid for boots, only the released stuff.

How did you know you need to find it? You only know you needed to find it after you find it and judge it yourself.

Working on it now.

What did the Prince man do back then?

So far, and it is only the second song, I guess I can at least faintly understand what the topic starter meant with the subject line.

`Incredible` is not what I heard (yet) but the music is most certainly pleasant. Not at least due to the MF-word as sproken by the Prince man back then.

If we look at the tray JPG that is in this release, who appears in the picture at the top left corner?

Some people I recognise, some I do not...

Left to Right

Front Row:

Jerome Benton, Unknown

Back Row:

Bodyguard*, David Z, Jellybean Johnson, Craig Rice (road manager)

^

^

*the bodyguards name is mentioned when Prince yells at them for all being in the golf cart.
