I'm not a musician nor do I have any formal knowledge of music. I'm currently reading "Miles The Autobiography" and I'm up to the point about Miles' making the album Milestones. In the book, he discusses "modal music" and how this was his first time experimenting with writing and playing in that "style".

Here's my question for the musicians on here- are there any Prince songs that are "modal" or written in that style/format? Just trying to draw a parallel so as to make better sense of the book. lThanks in advance.

Great book btw...Miles "Kind Of Blue" and Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" are perfect examples of modal music....Some of the material on "N.E.W.S" and "T.R.C" could fall into that modal bag.
