I am absolutely and deeply happy for Mr. PrinceNelson in doing this.

Perhaps, when everyone reads his memoire they can intimately listen to what he is ACTUALLY saying instead of thinking and interjecting their own opinion.
When your minds thinks the opinion before the other person speaks it is plain and simply rude.

The world needs more manners of Stop Look and Listen.

Harping on each other and breaking things down so much so that we tear into each other viciously like some kind of subconscious witch hunt isn't very divine for each other at all.

I have read some supportive and some very harsh conjecture in the thread, which is quite disturbing to say the least.

I am going to stick up for Prince because I can and my right to just because and say these next fine words..

What In The World Did Prince ever personally do to his fans in the first place?

Oh, I know;

Gave Joy
Gave Love
Shared Talent
Gave Laughter
Shared Tears
Shared Truth
Offered Emotional Release in Dance

Honestly, he seems to be quite the innocent "free will" psychologist spiritually for all of us.

If you made the choice to bully (and we all see a bullies words when it happens) him in words or otherwise why not try stopping, looking and listening to this, politely, please...

The man has 1 life like us all! No matter what he chooses to do at least he never locked himself away and never locked his talent to share in the first place away!

Isn't that the best part of heaven on this planet our ears have heard freely in our journey with him too?

So, with this being said...

I know the critics and bullies will likely interject their sparks of fire in my statement and that's fine because I have more Courage in Kindness to look past it but know this...

It is far better to give then receive and therefore I am very thankful for what he gives and in return HE receives one Huge Massive SMILE from me!

If that man ever needed some free penmenship from me he can throw a dove my way and I would never drop it on an empty paper chase.

Take care everyone much love take care and
Let the Man Be Truly Free no matter what you think.
This IS his final open dance with you.

Respectfully,
Arjuna

No way. The list of things Prince personally did to his fans is missing some important items. For example, SUING THEM.

I haven't read the previous 420+ posts but here's my two cents on this one -

1. For starters, I'll be quite surprised if this book sees the light of day, what with P constantly changing his mind, his priorities and general fickleness lol

2. It has the potential to be fascinating, especially if he focussed on the music, the song-writing process and the personal inspirations of the songs, his looks and career choices. Would love to hear his side of the story on so many things, from his early life, parents, his thoughts on JB, Sly, Miles, MJ, Rick James and the Revolution.

3. I can't help but think it will ultimately be a frustrating hodge-podge of interesting titbits of autobiography and insight into the life and career, mixed with tons of vague, hippy-dippy, new agey, JW-inspired cryptic statements and references about the Bible, evil record companies and former associates that will mean next to nothing to anyone but the man himself.

Time will tell. But the Beautiful Ones hurt u everytime ... wink

Just like everyone else on the org, I would definitely buy it and read any prince memoir.

I would like it to include his inspirations for songs, his stories about putting together the large tours. His interactions with the business side of WB, Paisley Park, and all the people he had to let go in order to form new groups. I am sure his life is intense with lots of difficult decisions. It would definitly be a suprise to prince describe his creative process in a book.

As a fan I see Prince is a true Gemini. He reveals himself through his songs and art. Yet we really know very little about him as a person.

I'll buy it for sure.

There was a long interview last year -- I forget from which magazine, but it wasn't published (someone posted it here). In that interview, I remember Prince sounding very honest and straightforward, almost "normal".

I feel like the days of him spouting off about Stauros or chemtrails or Con-DUM are long over. I'm sure there will be embellishments, and stuff being glossed over, but I think there will be a serious tone to it.

To add:

When I first heard about this, honestly my first thought was wondering if everything is OK with Prince.

First we have the heartfelt, original Piano and Microphone tour where every review has said he's very emotional throughout, especially after Vanity died. Then we have this memoir coming out. Seems like Prince has something to say that he can't say solely in music.

Secondly, I wondered why the memoir is only going up to the Super Bowl? That seems like an odd place to start, unless it's 1977-2007?

same here - seems like he is incredibly reflective. Inevitable I guess as several people connected have passed away, fallen ill & I guess likewsie this year has seen so many famous people pass away. The feeling of mortality hits us all eventually. Of course I am just speculating. I think you are right about the dates too, seems like a good place to end at an absolute high point.

U know I felt the exact same way! But I like to think positive. So I'm not going to give that energy.

Also 1977 -2007 is a LONG time. That's more than enough info for a Memoir...

I don't think Prince has fucked up his career. It may not have gone the way you wanted it to or how many of his fans wanted it to, but it's been an amazing career. He has world-wide respect as an accomplished, iconic musician and he's still to this day one of the most talented musicians out there. People are still excited to see him perform in concert too.

I, for one, am really looking forward to reading this. I've read a lot of memoirs over the years and it'll be really interesting to see things from his point of view. I'm not hoping for a detailed description of every gig he's done I'm just going to enjoy it for what it is/ will be!
