Rainbow Children LP Original Price

I'm finding it a nightmare trying to track down a copy for a semi-decent price.. I heard they only ever pressed 1000 of these but not sure if that's true.

My question is this..

How much was the double LP originally and where could you buy it from? Also who bought snapped it up cheap?

back in october/ november 2001, my order was originally a "pre-order" at amazon.co.uk,

I don't have the invoice/ don't have the details anymore, the price wasn't high back then, my guess around £ 15.00 to 20.00..?

Now the price is at least 10 times higher right?

ps. to keep vinyls "sealed or not":

I am not the one who keeps my records "sealed", I enjoy playing every vinyl record I have, that is their purpose anyway, getting played imho.. wink

I am not the person who enjoy "not to play the music" for "collector reasons", I find it a little strange those who collect music + always keep their records sealed, and btw the record will often get harmed in a seal, getting skewed by time, because the seal will shrink over time.

= I am breaking every seal in my collection, and playing my vinyls, no matter how valuable they are. music

And btw., who says the records will keep a higher price in the long run, they (most) are actually dropping in price during time, afaik...... sealed or not..

(well maybe not this one TRC, and some of the other super rare won't drop in price, I think.....)

My local independant wrecka stow had a hand full of copies (maybe 1/2 dozen or so, maybe less) at normal prices ($15-20, don't remember exactly). I picked one up, called a buddy and he picked one up. I opened mine and have listened to it a few times over the years. His is still sealed. Last I heard, he was planning on selling his (he asked me what they're currently going for and couldn't believe it was worth so much). I'm not selling mine, in fact, I think I might pull it out and listen to it this weekend... wink

Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

The Virgin Megastore in Vienna had at least one of them. I held it in my hands, the price was in our old currency ATS 300.- (= € 21.-), but i didn't have the money and couldn't buy it.

The next time I went there it was gone and they could not order more..... neutral

I bought mine online as I was doing with most of my music.

.

It cost me $38 which back then cost me a mere £18 for a double vinyl record INCLUDING postage!

.

Mine is sealed as I have the CD to play

.

It's a very nice vinyl just like so many other. The Lotusflow3r vinyl is also particularly nice.

.

I'm not sure why it costs so much but the price tag doesn't mean anyone will necessarily buy it.

.

cool

I ordered mine - there's no price tag. I don't remember, maybe $20.
What?

I paid $19.99 plus shipping for mine. I can't remember where I ordered from... Maybe direct from redline (or whatever the label is).

I play it regularly. It sounds too good not to.

Thanks for your replies. I suppose regardless of the music a 15 year old album that is now officially deleted and only 1000 pressed is super rare.. I'm closing in on a deal but it's going to be the most expensive purchase of all my collection that I know for sure.

I agree with you for the most part. I only have 2 records sealed, 1 is a 1981 promo of Controversy, I bought the remastered version that looks the same and sounds incredible for me to listen to but like the feeling that it's being preserved, it was the year I was born too.. The other one is 1991 Dangerous MJ, I'm currently looking for the remaster of that so I have one to listen to.

I will keep Rainbow Children sealed for a week or two until I find the perfect time to listen and also do an unboxing video for YouTube since it is one of my favourite albums of all time and the vinyl I've been wanting for a long time.

I actually have three Rainbow Children vinyls. I found them all at the same record store. The first one I bought for $18, the second one for $50, and the third one for $75. I saw one there sealed about two years ago for $150 but I didn't buy it even though I was tempted to buy a sealed copy. The third one I bought was still in the shrink with the promo sticker. All three copies are in excellent condition.

So many fans want it so to hear you have 2 copies not being played is tough. You were perfectly within your rights to buy 3 of course but if you fancy letting one go... wink
