£1300 - That's a lot of money for a Prince record... sold today on eBay That's got to be some kind of record (mind the pun) http://www.ebay.com.au/ul...1526325750 £1300 for Paisley Park shaped picture disc, still uncut. Sold today on eBay... That's a lot of dough... Especially in this day and age where Prince records/vinyl has dropped so much in value... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I assume it's because it's probably one of only a few that aren't cut. Maybe even the only one. I wouldn't pay that much for it though! Also, the person is putting their greasy ass fingers all over the thing, while asking 1300 for it!

I don't think it's the only one, but I would guess there are only about 10-15 of them that were taken home from the pressing plant as rejects before they were cut as they didn't pass QA. Just a guess but I would say a handful of hardcore completists would have them and the other uncut shaped picture discs. Photos are on Sleevographia, but they would have to be among the rarest of rare Prince collectables. Still a lot of money but if money is no object, I can see why completists would pay that kind of money. I've never seen a Purple Rain bike shaped uncut or a Girls and Boys, or a Sexy MF come up for sale. They would have been snapped up 20 years ago or more. I have a Kiss uncut which is a lot easier to find. But you would have to be very lucky to find a Purple Rain shaped uncut in 2016. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ha ha! I agree regarding the "greasy ass fingers"! It's expensive but in very mint condition & what a record at that time... "Money won't buy U happiness but it'll pay 4 the search."

TRC reaches those kind of prices yes, I don't know about Exodus, but a 1994 (I assume you mean this one) copy of TBA should be no where near that price.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
There were only 1000 copies of TRC on vinyl.

There's one on eBAY selling for $400 from a Japanese seller.

LOL, I see it. That's high for a used copy, and it says it's warped!! Mind you, if someone wants it badly enough...

Wow, seriously? I saw quite a few here when that album first came out, and it was still widely available years after, at a regular price, too. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Sexy MF and Purple Rain shaped picture discs AREN'T rare. Shaped UNCUT picture discs are. That Paisley Park shaped picture disc is worth about $40-50. Uncut as the one in the eBay link that just sold was UNCUT and that's what makes it so valuable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What's the difference between cut & uncut? will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

One is cut into the shape of the picture, and the other is still uncut and shaped like a round record.

Oh ok! I have a uncut one. Maybe Eye should sell it on Ebay? But U do underestimate what some die hards will do. Some will empty their bank accounts 4 their idol. Then don't think nothing of it..U C how many flew overseas 2 c MEGA Piano & a Mic Gala. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! So it's only the shaped ones that can be found uncut. I.e Purple Rain bike shaped, Girls and Boys wedge shaped, Paisley Park, shape of a boy with balloon, Kiss 86 version and the 88 re-print and Sexy MF Symbol shaped. The rest are not shaped and therefore can't be "uncut". If that makes sense! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I guess it depends on where you live. I picked up a RC vinyl and was very surprised to see how the price jumped so quickly after the initial run sold out! I never understood why they just didn't press more! Was a weird time for vinyl around 2001, people thought it was dead but it came back!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I can't imagine paying that much for something like that, but collectors are funny that way.
