The actual true issue here is that EF are not allowing buyers to select different shipping options. Most website these days allow buys to; collect from store, have extress shipping or standard etc.

.

EF are using a sledge hammer to break a nut... they do not need to use a really expensive service like UPS to send a cheap item like a CD. I regularly buy CDs from the USA and I never pay more than $5 or $6 dollars. The CD may take 2 weeks to arrive, but there is no rush. I have HNR2 digital so I don't mind waiting a few weeks before the CD arrives. After all, before we know it the HNR series will be 5 years old and a thing of the past, so waiting two weeks to get a CD delivered for $5 is perfectly fine and FIT-FOR-PURPOSE!!!

.

lol lol lol lol

From whom are you buying CDs in the U.S.? UPS charges even more for shipping than USPS. I don't know what cheaper shipping options you mean. DHL and FedEx also charge more. USPS has the cheapest shipping rates available.

.

Sorry, as I appreciate this issue is so boring but to clarify, if anyone uses a shipping company such as DHL, UPS or FedEx, then, yes, the charges are hugh!

.

HOWEVER, there are other services, such as the normal postal service - this can take two weeks but to arrive it is only $5 or $6.

.

My point is that stores need to provide different shipping options and not to just provide an over inflated option that is disproportonate to the value of the item being shipped!

.

I'm trying to order from Electric Fetus for shipping to the UK but the site won't let me submit my shipping address, it's getting frustrating, this is the last step before I pay and I can't get any further. Can anybody here help me? Am I going wrong somewhere?

USPS is "normal postal service" in the states. Twice I posted the link to its site showing international shipping is $13.

I don't know if someone already posted this, but there is another online store that sells the HitnRun phase 2 CD. And they ship it at "normal" prices.

http://funk4u.myshopify.com/

They ship the CD to Belgium for 19,30 $. That's for the CD and the shipping !!

I don't know how they can ship so cheaply because I sell CDs on ebay all the time and the post office always charges me over $10 for first class mail international overseas.

.

You've partly answered your own question - why send it first class, it doesn't need to be.

.

Excessive packaging and sending a packet as a parcel will also skew the cost.

.

Whenever I pay postage for a CD within Europe it is always cira 5 to 6 euros which at the moment is roughly $5 or $5.5 dollars.

.

For EF to just use UPS (or whatever) is just a mindless lack of intelligence and a waste of everyone's money. Whether that is a direct cost or not is irrelevant. The point is they are not giving customers options to choose.

Why did the idiot that designed this not include a web address? They obviously think people in that local town will know this store and will want to purchase the CD. It's a fact in marketing that print media is shared among hundreds of people - just think how many times you have looked at shared print media in a waiting room or on public transport.

But there is no cheaper shipping method than first class. You can go to the postal service link I posted earlier and see for yourself.

edit: And looking at Funk4U's shipping method choices, first class mail international is the cheapest shipping option they offer too.

There must be a conspiracy in the USA to rip people off when it comes to shipping costs.

.

For example, anyone in the USA can go to www.fredperry.us and buy a t-shirt and have it delivered for FREE within 7 days. That is a great way to do business! (You can also pay for express).

.

In Europe there are numerous shipping options, from free to express to PUDO (pick up / drop off services).

.

I don't see why the USA hasn't applied any intelligence to how people shop online - but I suppose Europe has always been far more advanced.

That's disgraceful. Why are they not offering free courier pigeon delivery, like every other self-respecting European retail outlet?

Click on the type of shipping needed & It should allow you to put in your particulars after

I did that, but for whatever reason I couldn't get any further than that. After I messaged them I could then add an address but the site still wouldn't fulfill the order because it said my address was incomplete, but there was nothing else I could put in there.

I don't know about that. It might cost me a lot if I'm calling from the UK. I managed to order a copy easily from funk4u just now. It's a shame that I couldn't complete order with Electric Fetus, I've been trying repeatedly all day.

A local paper. (to those living there)

So the street address is perfectly usable to go there and get the CD.

I am wondering also what effect filesharing is having on potential sales. there have been several hundred takedown actions for sites, presumably, for some sort of infringements.
