GeorgieAto said: you people liking the absolutly horrible Rainblow Children shows that Prince could fart for 60 minutes on record and you still would think its the greatest thing youve ever heard...that album is a piece of GARBAGE and after 20 years of being a hardcore fan it was the album that totally turned me off on Prince and the 1st album of his that i hated and it was the start of the huge downfall Prince has had You're talking shit, and I don't want to hear it. there is a fan edit of trc floating around that has eliminated the darth vader voice. Its done pretty well too and brings the listening experience up a notch or two. But the opposite of NATO is still OTAN and no amount of edits will change that peice of obvious-stating nonsense.

Maybe the way you are totally OVERreacting to all this, P's career, the album itself and people liking it shows that the problem lies within you, not the album or us or P's career. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Don't forget, 'Parade' is also the bizness. Hundalasiliah!

"Parade" will always be a classic. I remember when "TRC" was released, many org'ers (back in the 'purple and black' days) wanted to know if there was a device that could just remove the vocals and keep only the music. "TRC" is a great disc too.

It flowed beautifully. This is the epitome of TIMES music.
I wish we could get the piano piece(An Honest Man) that was in the beginning of the movie(Under the Cherry Moon) That period was just the biggest explosion of creativity, I think bigger than the PR era

LOVE Parade. It really is amazing and expanded what he was doing and took him in a direction that no one expected. And I went along for that ride.
TRC... not so much for me. Every year if I know I'm taking a long drive, TRC is one of the CDs I pack and I put it on and can barely make it through it. There are a few good songs, but some horrible tracks (Wedding Feast? WTF?) and the narrative takes away all of the potential joy that the songs bring out. As much as I want to like it, I have to put it in the bottom half of his best albums.
He did great live versions of the songs, but the CD is almost unlistenable to me. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. Maybe won't be enough for you, but I totally panned it when it came out, then in early 2014 I through it back on rotation and now it one of my top-5 albums. No clue why I missed out on it. I was probably too young and idealistic to get past the religious stuff and just appreciate how incredible the music is. Now I'm old and jaded. I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

Somehow, the Rolling Stone review always holds a certain authority for me (2,5 out of 5). Also the org, in the earlier years I was here ('04-'05) did not seem to appreciate it as they do now.

Interestingly, for me, now at 30, it makes more sense than when I listened to it the first time, when I was 18. Definitely a grower this one.
+ I just adore the whole imagery..

Both are still as brilliant as the first time I heard them.
