Purple Rain & Planet Earth no longer streaming? Forgive me if this has already been posted, but why are Purple Rain and Planet Earth no longer streaming on Tidal????
I am one of the suckers who is now paying for Tidal, and if it is going to be the place for his music than why can't I listen to his most popular album. Dammit man. (Not that I don't have it in a zillion other formats, but still!) |

On the U.S. version PURPLE RAIN IS streaming.
Planet Earth was taken down a couple months ago don't know why. Also in the beginning LOVESEXY was gone as well, but was put back up again a while ago. |

Purple Rain is still showing for me - can't say I'd ever noticed Planet Earth being available. Where do you live? |

I'm in the US (NC). Planet Earth was definitely there at the beginning and is gone now. Apparently I just had the wrong version of Purple Rain in my album list, but I found one that works now. Glad LOVESEXY is back and 3121, which wasn't there in the beginning.
Wouldn't be a true Prince venture without so much confusion! |

Planet Earth was removed a while ago... Not that anyone cares about that album anyway |

True true. I was just confused by it being there and then not.
By my count the studio albums that are missing now are Gold Experiencce, Chaos and Disorder, Rave, and Rainbow Children. Right? |

Planet Earth includes the Grammy Award winning "Future Baby Mama". So it should be included. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

And no songs on SOTT or LOVESEXY won a GRAMMY... Does that make PLANET EARTH better?
Plus one song doesn't make an ALBUM. |

You would indeed expect all of his official releases on Tidal if it's his new "home".
Maybe Black Album and Crystal Ball as exceptions.
But I think it's indeed strange that Rave, Planet Earth, 20Ten and especially The Gold Experience are not available for streaming. Same for some of this 12" releases.
D&P cannot be found with artist Prince but as P & the NPG.
This is exactly why I'm still not very happy with streaming services. Still not every album available and the artist/label/service can change their library anytime they want to. Leaving us with gaps in our collection.
Not that I rate this song that high, but his 2nd succesfully single in my country (TMBGITW) is not even available @ Tidal. [Edited 1/8/16 4:27am] |

Would be something to do with distribution rights? He might own the masters but might have signed distribution to someone else for a period of time? Planet Earth was released on a few different labels worldwide. Gold Experience was all NPG/Warner though so I'm not sure really. |
