Work It 2.0 vs The Work Enhanced Edition NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. These rules are strictly enforced!
I know some tracks may be better on one than the other and vice versa and that better sources have been found of some songs since both these collections were released, but I'm just looking for a general opinion across the whole collection.
For example has one collection been 'messed about with' or made too loud etc.
I know some people have issues with who released these sets and how they were collected but if you could put those aside and just comment on the quality it would be much appreciated.

Ditch The Work, enhanced or not. Work It 2.0 is the one you need.

I can't make that call. I think Work It 2.0 might be less messed with, and more complete--but much of The Work is more listenable. So... I've kept both intact. Then I have a separate "This Is What I Listen To" set, consisting of a mix of the two and other releases of individual tracks.
I'd suggest setting aside the storage room for both.

I believe "The Work enhanced' was an attempt to make an updated compolation of " the work & work it 2.0 combined, Not all volumes of The Work Enhanced were released, it was a fan made compilation My opinion: Most were either the same quality or "louder/ tweaked sound" if you like that Some sounded worse, At the time It did had a great copy of Moonbeam levels I wouldn't seek out The Work Enhanced I will take my place, In the great below

Wasn't there talks recently about a mysterious someone planning to update those 15 years old then comprehensive compilations? Unfortunately so much has surfaced ever since that even though they're a necessary basis for any serious collector, there are now dozens of songs and updated versions of songs to track down over dozens of other, smaller compilations (or just floating around the web). I hope one day someone finds the courage to "do the work" and update that stuff, even though it'd be a considerable amount of work and even though new outtakes leaking every couple of months wouldn't make it definitive for long. Work It 2.0 is amazing - but absolutely overwhelming in its scope. I downloaded it years ago and still haven't listened to everything. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
