Prince documentary on Sky Arts UK I've just discovered that on Tuesday January 5th there is an half hour documentary called "Discovering Music" and this episode features Prince. It is airing on Sky Arts in the UK , not sure of the content probably some rehash of old clips but thought it might be worth a look.

Well that was awful. 30 minutes. Nothing of substance at all. Skipped over his only uk number 1 too.

It was really bad. Nothing more than a glossed-over list of albums, which also skipped Lovesexy and other stuff completely. Also, no mention of him writing for other acts or his associated artists. It was probably not even good enough as an intro for new fans, either. Utterly pointless.

I finally watched this waste of time last night as I recorded it and, if you want my opinion, British Channels and documentary producers have an overwhelming talent of making the worse music documentaries in the world, not just of Prince, but of anyone prolific and legendary!! They havent got a clue, they get chronology timelines fucked up, exclude huge chunks of an artists career, include comments and interviews from so-called famous people who really havent a clue about an artist(in this case Prince) or are only familiar with the well known highlights of an artists career!!!
If you REALLY want to make a documentary on Prince you need more than just a pathetic half an hour!!!!

To make a proper, detailed documentary about Prince that's going to cover every album, associated artist of note, his issues with record labels and how much influence he's had on the music of today, it would have to be at least an hour and a half. The fact this show was only 30 minutes long told me all I needed to know.

. Yep, this was a SKY production - a series of 30-minute introductions to big bands/artists - nothing more, nothing less - I wasn't impressed either. I don't think any of the series would have had their hardcore fans in rapture either. . However, I have to take issue with this comment on British channels making the worst music documentaries in the world. I think the BBC make some of the finest, interesting & insightful documentaries - their ones that explore music are no exception either. My favourite documentary on Prince was by the BBC back in 1991 ("Omnibus"). . So PurpleSpirit319, if I want an opinion, I don't think I'll be knocking at your door. [Edited 1/9/16 8:34am]

Actually, i think to do it properly you would need six one hour episodes and make a series of it.
