So let me get this straight. Prince gives the most eye opening, come-on-in, straight no chaser interview of his fucking career. And all the usual suspects and trolls in this thread can do is point to his comments about religion????
LOL....Man...Not to be crass...But fuck some of y'all know-it-all assholes....lol

I would be more impressed if Prince heard Dez needed money and put him to work. Bitching about it later in an interview, just shows how petty and stuck on himself he really is.
How about give an old friend a gig? Or, release vaulted material they played on and cut them a check. Just sayin'...

Prince is known to leave his shit everywhere, are we sure it was actually stolen? Sheila E sold his outfits at a garage sale. Mayte sold clothes. I remember Wendy and Lisa referencing some clothes he left with them. Remember the ex-girlfriend who tried to Ebay a jacket Prince gave to her and he blocked the sale? Prince has a history of feeling exploited when anyone profits around him even when they acquired the item legitimately. The entire article is about the same old thing: Money, money, money. I'm soooo important, The Beatles got paid more than me and I've got way more (crap) albums than they do. On and obnoxiously on.
Honestly, if Dez fell on hard times and sold a jacket, it's not THAT big of a deal. Prince has plenty of those bullsht PR jackets. Prince has been (no pun intended) rich too long. He's like those folks in your family who got a good job early in life, and don't remember what's it's like when hard times hit. I would be more impressed if Prince heard Dez needed money and put him to work. Bitching about it later in an interview, just shows how petty and stuck on himself he really is.
Uh huh because you know EXACTLY how they got his clothes and Prince constantly bitches about being taken advantage of in interviews with the media. I am so glad we have an inside source like you who is clearly privy to the full truth of these complicated relationships and therefore you have the proper perspective and vision with which to judge this human being and the individuals involved. Lastly, If a friend left his jacket in your house does that mean it's now your jacket? If your friend never came to get it, wouldn't you try to either delivery it or mail it to him? I find it interesting that because Prince 'leaves his shit everywhere' that that somehow relieves him of ownership of his shit and absolves the person who took it upon themselves to shall we say 'care for it' of theft.
I just remember what I read. Sheila was very clear that Prince left all types of things at her house, clothes included. She sold some of it. I don't recall him accusing her of theft. Prince comes across as having two modes: victim and spoiler. If he isn't playing victim, then he's playing spoiler. |

With regards to The Beautiful Ones...It's hard to admit a woman had yo azz sprung after the breakup and whatnot. Prince tried to say the song was about nobody paticular, but he's clearly in his feelings on that track. We've heard what Prince sounds like when he tries to write from his head, not his heart and it ain't too good so... Vanity or Susannah (more than likely it's about both), it was definitely real. |

That's why it's silly for the old guard to keep begging him over and over for what they cherish.
As long as they have been around they should have realized by now how contrary he is. The more you tell a contrary person what you want the less chance you have of getting it.
They'd have a better chance if he had no idea what they wanted.
My favorite was the guy who said Prince is ignoring "our need" for remasters.

i'm not a basher of PRINCE... but this is a real low for him if he really pulled the article... it really does show he's becoming more out of touch with the public... really sad to c him aging gracefully on the outside but inside he's showing the bitterness towards long time people who've always been supportive of him. |

But I’m like, that’s my coat that’s in Hard Rock Café. They’re not supposed to have that. Get that outta there. And second of all: how did they get it? And then they’ll say, “well, a bandmate.” I say, “oh really? Go get the band member and bring him to me.” And then they sit down and come in with their head down. I ain’t gonna say who it is, but that’s what I’m talking about.
“Why? What do I say to your wife now?” “I came on hard times, I don’t know what to tell you.” Now in my heart, I forgive them. But like I said, it’s like, you won’t hear from him anymore. See, back in the day, he was making some comments too. We’ve all had to deal with it, but I just, wow.
i'm curious now. did this bandmember go into prince's wardrobe and just take stuff which
he/she then sold to hard rock cafe?
or is it more like they went ahead and sold stuff they already had. like mayte selling his clothes that she still had kicking about etc.
because if they stole from him, i can see why he would be miffed. if they didn't and just sold 'their' prince items, it's kinda sad that he makes such a fuss.
either way, he comes across as pretty unpleasant to me, reading this. i mean, ewww
. Ok so your friends come over and they see a really cool jacket in your closet... They're like oh wow I love this jacket can I have it please?... You give it to them as a FRIEND and next thing U know its on display in some nasty fastfood chain restaurant and your friend made $$$ selling your gift... So that is ok because they didn't steal it from you right? .
[Edited 12/22/15 20:00pm] Or how about your friends come over and you say, "Hey, do you want any of this old junk I don't feel like taking care of? Here, it's yours, you figure out what to do with it." And then you get mad when they put it in their yard sale. |

I quite like this interview and don't think Prince sounds bitter. He gives props to Morris Day, Eric Leeds, Dr Fink (and Josh ). He admits he finds it hard to trust people (that's what the story about the coat is about, not money). That comes with the territory when you're a celebrity. He don't like people psychoanalysing him and telling false stories about him (who would?). He's genuinely into music and enjoys creating and playing music with other people. He rightly thinks he has something to teach in this regard.

About that Purple Rain jacket.... IIRC the lady that used to make them gave an interview back in the day and said there were a lot of them. They are essentially made of scrap materials like felt and bullshit. It's a stage costume, not really meant to be worn extensively, but Prince used to wear them like regular clothes and they wore out easily.
Again, If anything, if Prince was a rell one, he should have gave Dez more coats!! 'Sell some more of these muthafunkas'. It's all bullshit anyway. |
