Does anyone agree that 'I feel for you' by Chaka Khan is the greatest record ever made???

Greatest Production
Greatest Rap
Greatest Sound
Greatest Scratching
Greatest Harmonica

I think all the people who made the record had a massive amount of respect for Prince..

I enjoy Chaka's version more than P's. It just has more of a vibe to it than the original. Better to dance to.

It's good, but hasn't much to do with the original version. Sound was really ahead of time.
For me, the original version is much underrated.

I love the 12" mix, and I do prefer it to Prince's original,

I wouldn't say it was the best record ever made though wink

Just extended really - it's on WinMX et all.

Lots of nice 80s vocal stuttering "I think, I think, I think, I think I think I love yooouuu" biggrin

I think the rap is in twice too.

What I want is Prince's version with Mel saying "Princey-Prince, let me rock you, let me rock you, Princey-Prince, let me rock you that's all I wanna do, Princey-Prince, let me rock you 'cause I feel for you!"

Then the debate would be over. nod

I Think that the extended versions of "This Is My Night" & "I Feel 4 U" are in competition with eachother really! They are very very well done, but "This Is My Night" has a tighter beat...but it doesnt hav a rap in it.

Regardless, yes I think I Feel 4 U is probably the BEST remake ever made and it is very fresh, and still love it until this day. It even sounds like Prince can have produced that himself. Adrif Mardin, The System & Grandmaster Flash I think was part of that whole era thing at that time.

If u heard this, got damn, pick up "This Is My Night" extended version also! I have it avaliable on Kazaa..

Dave Marsh no. 335-I Feel For You
-Talk about your supressions: written by th ebest new black writer of the eighties, produced by the guy who taught the Bee Gees how to boogie, rap assistance by Melle Mel, the proudest voice in Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and harmonica solo by no les than Stevie Wonder. Even the dedade Chaka Khan spent leading Rufus could hardly have prepared her for such an extravaganza.
Not that she mightn't have regretted it later. It's nice to attract so much attention from so many eligible fellas, but after a few months, Chaka must have found herself fed up with not being able to walk to the store without hearing a dozen trolling imitations of Melle Mel's rebounding "Chakakhanchakakhanchakakhan". Which only compounded th eproblem of being upstaged on your record by scratchers and rappers and a blind kid with a big harp in the first place. Although whoever came up with the idea of cutting in tow sharp seconds from "Fingertips, Part Two" wins my eternal favor.

Very Creative&the kind of Overall Production that a Cover should have especially when you Fuse R&B,Pop&Hip-Hop/Rap&Chaka did it here, but Not the Greatest Ever but amongest My Personal 200-300 All-time Songs IMHO.Cleaver on all fronts. Her Re-Make Makes Prince's Seems as Funky as if Wayne Newton did it first.

The greatest record ever made? NO. But she sings it very well, and I heard her version before I heard Prince's...it's my favorite song from Chaka, but I like Prince's version more after I heard it a couple of times after because I was so used to her great version, it's a classic, but his is more mellow and I really appreciate the 'older' school style it got, and the instruments playing at the end, the keyboards? Well, they're beautiful, it expresses that 'feeling', and that's what I love about it, that's why it's classic also...wink
