Adore. Best ballad of the eighties by any artist.

God damn, I keep on listening to Adore at the gym and it still sounds so fresh. The arrangement, the voice, the instruments, THAT sitar!, the lyrics, the climax. It all blends together so well. THIS right here is why I refuse to put his music in the 80's category. And, as I keep repeating, this was made in freaking 1987! It's hard to make something timeless around that time and without being to minimalistic, now that is an achievement by itself. But he did it and boy does it stand the test of time. Take a bow son, take a bow. worship

Best ballad of the 1980's including all artist who were making music from 1980-1989. For instance, I think that "Father Figure" by George Michael is a strong contender. But Adore is just soooooooo good.

It¿s a beautiful ballad, and the end with those choruses, and listend this song in the evening, it is magical. But i haven't listened enough 80's music to claime something like that, perhaps for me that title goes to "Don't Give Up" form Peter Gabriel.

It's alright, but not Adore to me. What stands out with Adore compared to other ballads during the time period is that it flows so brilliant throughout the whole song, no unnecessary bridge. Just minor details in some parts. Like one of the climax where he tells her she can do anything to him and then....."Hmmmmm, well maybe not the ride" OMG moment I. Or where he in despair tells her that the angels are looking down and they know "I'm not fucking just for kicks" OMG moment II.

Interesting. I appreciate the attemp. The significant changing of the arrangement makes for an interesting tune, but it's nowhere near the level of the original. This reworking kind of reminds me of Prince's own reworkings of some classic unreleased songs: Extraloveable and 1000 Hugs & Kisses especially. They get a contemporary twist, but the power of originals are erased by a too laidback arrangement and vocal delivery.

No it is not the best of the 80's. I dont even think it is the best by Prince. To each their own though.

the eighties?? Are you kidding me??!!!

Could possibly be the greatest song ever recorded!

I am not joking.

The harmony of the chorus.

The falsetto.

The Lyrics!

His backround voices.

The horns.

THE LYRICS!!

All cimaxing together at the end of the song.

Genius.

Written almost 30 years ago yet still time has not outdated this song.

PURE ROMANCE

I guess you missed my point. Take out "of the eighties" from the thread title and it makes a lot more sense to me. I adore Adore.
