I just read a 9 page long post about how Future Soul Song is a stone cold classic. Is 20Ten really that bad? And for the record "FSS" is amazing.

Dirty Mind, really?

Yeah, with Phase Two I knew it was going to suck hard just from looking at the track list. Dirty Mind, though, was one of the last Prince albums I finally heard some time in the early 90s, and it was the one I was anticipating the most because it was hyped up as the greatest gift to humanity since indoor plumbing. But when I finally heard the flat, stale sound production, the amateur falsetto vocals, and the weak-ass, piss-poor song selection, the level of my disappointment was devastating. It wasn't just the worst Prince album I had heard; it was and still is one of the weakest albums I've ever heard by anyone. From the hype I was expecting one balls-out funk banger after another, but instead I got a bunch of lame, poorly produced new wave duds. Even a slamming groove like Party Up is ruined by an amateur sound production and that childish, embarrassing, god awful anti-war chant. Besides "Head," which is fantastic, the best thing I can say about Dirty Mind as an album is "It's Short!"

-

I usually prefer to keep it positive and stick to showing support for the stuff I like (which is the vast majority of Prince's music), but the disappointment of Phase Two kind of woke up the beast within. mad

I know we all have our favorites and may dislike some of the projects but can we honestly say the man has put out a truly lousy album? There isn't any single album that I honestly think is crap. I would say he's done some average for the industry type albums and contractual fillers but not lousy.

HitnRun is the only album I consider bad (lousy, crap).

Prince has infinite talent at his fingertips and HitnRun is so beneath him, imo.

I have to agree. After over 37 years of dedicated fandom, I found myself actually disliking a Prince album. The only consolation is that it is actually a punk ass Joshua Welton album of EDM bullshit.

homesquid,no offence intended, but are you well, there is one that stands out like a sore thumb

Love Symbol is truly awful,my God its bad, sexy m.f decent track, but the rest is pants,

there is a point though that i here alot, and that is that he made a crap album just

to show he could,i dont know, all we can do is speculate.

you do have a point though, ive listened to most of this genius music,

its very impressive, awseome,i really do appreciate this mans talent,

oh here we go,its like this, i believe in Heaven right, ill go as far as to say

Prince will be performing for God there.

him,i love this site, but im kinda p***ed off,i dont know how to get a response

from other users,i know, its not intelligent, like i said earlier ill get my coat shall i.

true. but a lot of his later albums suffer from a bad start or a bad/non end.

like

come: way too long first track, ends on orgasm sad [love the album though]

newpowersoul: shitty opening track, 'ends' on shitty track, then whoops great hidden track. [couple great tunes on it though]

Mplsoud: 2 really bad tracks to open with, after that too many ballads

20Ten: shaky start (compassion), doesn't really end, just fizzles out and then whoops a hidden track (some great songs though)

AoA: silly opening track and too many ballads in the middle [still good album]

HnR: non prince vocal opening track. too many remixes.

other albums that i like less, like, say "musicology" have decent tracks to
bookend the disc, and thus they feel more like albums to me, if that makes
sense at all.

his sequencing just seems a bit off and his choice of what to include or what
to leave off.

he's still got tons of good tracks just seems to have a bit of a hart time with

the sequencing of cohesive albums these days.

Hi there, just your opinion please,do you not agree that love symbol is the biggest offence to

the genius talent in existents,i mean it is painful listening, like i only listened to it once but

thats enough, its so bad that you never forget how bad it is,someone has to agree,

exuse the spelling peeps,

and as i always say,ill get my coat shall i,

bit of a joke there, not a funny one. slan lat.

Hard to rag NPS with HitnRun 1 out there. On NPS, at least Prince was being Prince and it really was Prince - nokt some unqualified punk producer. I always liked NPS

homesquid,

i can see why your taking the stance you are on this,id be the first to jump to the little

genius's defence also because i think he's the greatest musician of all time bar none,i could

go further on why but not now, homesquid man,Love Symbol, anyone only need listen once

and never want to again, its not only his worst, its muck in general, does anyone else agree

that it is an insult to Prince's true talent.

homesquid man if you dont exept that your in denial, nuff said.
