Yeah in 2014.. but Taylor Swift, Meaghan Trainor, Kelly Clarkson, Jill Scott, Janet Jackson, and Selena Gomez did THIS year. And other than the Oscar performance and her and Tony's rather low-key tour she didn't do anything noteworthy musically in 2015, which makes peoples questioning of this award quite understandable. No woman had a bigger year THIS year than Taylor Swift if we're being honest. Maybe they're tired of awarding Taylor, but again, being objective, there's zero way to compare their impact with each other on music in 2015.

And don't confuse me, in terms of being talented, I've defended Lady Gaga plenty of times here on these forums, and I've even met her a few years ago randomly in New York, but bullshit is bullshit. One should call it as one sees it.

It's kind of funny.. I read that same letter posted on another thread here at the org. The letter is more of a dig at Billboard than at Gaga. retweeting it isn't the same as endorsing it, any more than sharing memes or news on facebook means we endorse those things. The only reason I would see someone in the biz posting it is to show that hmm, payola rears its head again (in the eyes of the employee who supposedly wrote that).

That's how Prince sees press releases about PR30 as well - a tweet you can just delete.

Lady Gaga had a #1 album last year which shows she still has star power, but no way did someone who didn't have a single album or single in 2015 deserve the title for Woman of the Year... she hasn't even had a hit in America in what's soon to be three years. I like her music, but come on. Even Billboard's "What LG has been doing this year" timeline was boring as hell She did nothing of public interest this year. There were a lot of popular/successful female performers this year who could have gotten it before her.. oh well. It does kind of seem bought.

But of course Prince said that. A lot of people who seem to respect him -- Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, Madonna -- ended up getting shitted on by the Purple Yoda sooner or later lol

This was not about Gaga.... It's about the industry.
