Great song but again not what we expect from the PP. Looking back only Stare (at that point), Free Urself and IECGYA were worth it. I guess Tidal isn't happy with it either, because more real exclusives would give them more subscriptions or paid downloads. It could have been so easy, if it's not from the vault why not some remixes or extendeds from earlier releases that aren't available for streaming yet?

I guess we can predict that the purple prick of the week for the next ten weeks will be a phase 2 track. What would be wrong with a good old fashioned maxi-single extended version of the track he puts up. . However. Three albums in a year, mustn't complain! Comin str8 outta Preston...

Prince couldn't get a manicure without someone here making a 3 page thread about how he shoulda, coulda, oughta have picked a different nail saloon.
Let's say he did release, say, Moonbeam Levels as the Purple Pick of the week, then we'd have some of the answers below:
- Fantastic news! (followed by 10 posts saying "meh, already have that in top quality, why did he wait so long?") - I'm happy about this but shouldn't this be saved for the boxset (followed by 10 posts saying Prince has no business sense, he doesn't know what he's doing, he's "blowing it" and "besides, couldn't he have picked something that hasn't been circulating for decades?" - all of the above PLUS "he has an album to promote, why isn't he showcasing Revelation for instance? The man has no business flair."

to be fair, those all sound like something i might say and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

To be fair ... Everyone loves it when p releases anything previously unreleased .. Even if it sux it still feels like he is trying to live up to his own declarations that got people to tidal ... When he drops a repeat everyone thinks its lame no matter how good a song it is .. As they should .. Its the huge gap between what is said and what is done that frustrates people .. The quality of the tune is secondary ... No one actually expects great music from p anymore .. But we all really wish he would stop being such a liar

"The Ladder" is a good song.It sounds alot like the song "Purple Rain",but with a more gospel/soulful feel to it.

Well, that'll shut up everyone who was complaining about the recent picks being current songs. At least we get the disapointment out of the way nice and early this week. RIP

I love Hair. I added it to one of my personal Tidal playlist. I had no idea this song was from Graham Central Station's 1974 self titled album.

I don't care about the purple picks anymore cuz It's obvious that they're not for the hardcore fans anyway. But we just got a new album and that's great Welcome 2 The Dawn
