Drum sound on recent songs

Do you think that Josh drum programing is not good enough for Prince? Drum sound on HitnRun is over compressed without any dynamcs and very repetitive not in a good way.I take Prince and his linn drum over Joshs boring drum loops even Kirky J was a much better drum programer than Josh.Kirks drum beats were lame but at least there was a sense of dynamic in drum sound compared to Joshs over compressed mess.

Drums are a part of what's awful about the sound of Hit N Run - I'll definitely give you that. But the overall production, slowed down voice effects and arcade game sounds make the drum parts look like pure genius in comparison. The first four songs are the most unbearable sequence of Prince songs on record IMHO.

Just out of curiousity, what has Josh put out there before these last two Prince albums that show what his style is? That shows his production? Does he have a soundcloud, or website?

His band was on a VH-1 reality show once, IIRC.

Good questions.

I believe Josh is talented, in his own way, just a bad personality match for Prince. A lot of what is annoying on HnR and AOA, like the sound effects, we've seen on Prince records before. People are blaming Josh for a lot of things, but I'm sure the worst decisions on those albums were actually the product of Prince's bad taste moreso than Josh's.
