To me, the afro and bell-bottoms simply tie in with him playing a Sly Stone set every concert for years and years, trying to be a legend of an era he simply was not legendary in. When he sings on "June" that he should have been born on the Woodstock stage, it just sounds like he wishes he was part of that acclaimed baby boomer/hippie era, instead of blowing up in the nineteen eighties. It is certainly confusing when he marches on stage talking about "old school" looking like a decade prior to his debut. I GET that he is inspired by it, but anyone watching.. it just makes him look older than he really is.
Some younger folks I know actually believe Prince was a '70s act based on how he acts and dresses.
Never really thought about it but that is so true... what he was a part of and what he was the master of, is to me anyway, way bigger than any of that hippie stuff. The 80's were amazing--- or maybe every generation just feels that way about their generation, but I love the 80's and miss it. I was watching the Breakfast Club over the weekend and noticed one of the kids in the movie holding up a Prince album (something I hadn't noticed before when I'd seen that movie) and it was really a reminder of how much he ruled that time....
The Weeknd has made some great and catchy soul songs that have been big hits.
D'Angelo made an incomprehensible, mumbling, poorly mixed album that only had any hype because of the stupidly long time it took to make it, and everybody promptly forget about it after 3 months. I didn't see anyone mention it after January of this year, on this forum. And now D'Angelo is back hiding in his hole, while The Weeknd continues to pump out great songs.
Hell, I don't even like The Weeknd that much. But listen to that bass drop at 44seconds. That's fucking killer. D'Angelo took 14 years and couldn't write one thing with as much impact. I'm listening to it on my studio monitors and it slams.
Not feeling this.
Dude sounds like a baby billygoat.
Ditto....a billygoat impersonating M.J.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
He looks like a man in his 30s... certainly not a man knocking on 60s door. I know make up can work wonders, but it can't hide 30 yrs of aging. The afro though.... please, please, please get rid of that. You ought to know, the worst hairstyle he's ever had, will be the one he sticks with the longest.
's hair and MEGA face looks better than any other almost Sixty year old in history!!!! STOP HATING!
will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.
I just see more stroking of a past his prime rock star! If only the media elite were as in tune as some of Prince's fans at the Org......Here, we are not afraid to tell the truth about the man.....We know Prince looks ridiculous, right? We know he's a joke....Dammit, I'm so tired of the media and award show celebs and audience members showing this has-been hack respect. Why r they standing up for this washed out relic anyway???????
It's so infuriating.....
If you think Prince is a "has-been hack", why do you still post on this forum?
It's ok to just be a fan of his past. If someone doesn't like his current work, well.. fair enough. But calling him a hack? That aint right at all. Who's great at their job every day of their life anyway?
Appreciate him whilst he's here and for the work he's done that you do like. That's my motto.
Prince is now, and has always been FOINE. F O I N E
Haters exist stage left.
That face is pretty, for now, and forevermore. He was hot even in what I consider the most godawful of the rave era when he looked like a glitter smurf.

STILL FOINE.
He'll present himself all life long, as he wants to. People need to recognize that. Prince is Prince and can do whatever he likes. At all times. Constant pass for him.

Isn't that even more problematic to researching his material? He hasn't looked like that since the debut album, and I don't think I've ever seen a video clip prior to "I Wanna Be Your Lover" with the relaxed straightened feathered hair.

Man it seems to me like the org bitches be worried about their own vanity mixed up with dey obsession. Like dem Beatle Boomers dey's gotta get everybody 'preciatin what it is that drives their every movement other than to the fridge an' back. Dey sho hate deyself SO much dey gotta use Prince for a 'love me' and then deny him three times in the monnin'
On the flipside, dem duds the dude was wearing was hella batshit

Even though I hate the fro too that pic of the afro wig is just unnecessary Ya'll ain't right

I'm not sure what you mean by posting it being "just unnecessary". I honestly think his current afro is a wig, and that wig looks just like it to me. (not so much in these pics from the AMA though, but from past photos where the fro looks more scraggly and less dense). I think he's wearing a wig. and I posted the wig pic to support my contention that he is...that's all. But I also don't think Prince cares if people suspect/think/knows he's wearing a wig *IF* he is.

Some of u guys....lol
Sarcasm flies over your head.....But I'm not surprised. This place has become some poisonous that people actually believe someone would go full on mega troll on the Org...

That some of the natives on this site have become so over-the-top with their bitching and nitpicking of all things Prince (no matter how trivial), that they would believe my series of unhinged faux posts....
It should have been obvious I was being sarcastic. But the wells have been poisoned so much that it has become believeable that someone would actually posts such wacky bullshit....I did it as a play on folks like Bart and Funksterr; a wink just to show how silly (and negative) shit has gotten around here....
And some people actually believed it....
What happened to this place? Maybe I will use more exclamation points next time.....lol

It was obvious to some of us
The last Prince song they thought was "sophisticated" was recorded around the same time the UI for this website was written. (No seriously, can something be done about this interface? It's embarrassing. Every time I come here, I put on Days of Wild so the full aura of 1994 comes out. Love yo craft f'gawdsake)
Not all of Prince's newer music has been childish or amatuerish. But he has certainly released a lot more of the cringeworthy simpleton stuff like Clouds, Breakfast Can Wait and fallinginlovetonite that even a childrens tv show would reject as being beneath them. I really can't imagine anyone over 12 yrs old liking this kind of stuff.

Same here--comparing D to that pathetic guy, what a joke
The Weekend is a VERY gifted multi instrumentalist. He is @ the top of his game now. All over the radio.
