HITNRUN from worst to first So, I wasn't even going to buy HITNRUN when it was download only. So I wasn't really looking forward to it all; I've never thought his "Internet Only' albums were truly "albums."
But picked it up at Target and one first, or maybe even second listen, I truly thought it was the most desperate sounding, god-awful thing he's been involved with.
But, then...it grew...and grew and grew to the point where today I'd rank it "first" (which only means when I'm in my car which Prince CD I want to listen to today.)
I'm still in the romance period with this one (AOA lasted for awhile/3rd Eye never got into).
No filler. Strong cuts.
Anyone go from thinking it was his absolute worst to one of his best?

That means you were listening too long; Josh Welton's subliminal messages took control of your mind as you heard them over and over...and over again. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

For me, it went from absolute worst to just one of the worst. The entire first half of the album is the kind of music I hate. I had wondered if Prince did that music, would I still hate it. And now that he's done it, I have my answer. HOWEVER, the second part of the album saves it. Ex's Face, Fallinlove2nite, Hardrocklover and June are all nice enough songs. Nothing spectacular, but good enough. The standout track is 1000 X's & 0's. My favourite Prince in a long time. My overall rating for the album would be 5/10. Certainly more than I would have given it on first listen but I'll never forgive him for the likes of Aint about to stop, like a mack and this could be us remix.

That real loud synth part at the start really grates on me. And the rap. My god, the rap... I think there probably is a decent song in there somewhere. Buried under all the vocal effects and EDM nonsense. As it is though, it's not my cup of tea.

Love it all still. Getting a bit tired of the last two songs to be honest but I think I'm in a minority on that one! RIP

That's because it's a song from 1992. Back then he could write great songs.

You're either with Skrillex or against Skrillex. There is no in-between.

Except HitnRun sounds nothing like a Skrillex album. (unless you googled skrillex and listened to a 30 second clip).

They do most of the music for that film.they make great instrumentals. Check this song out https://m.youtube.com/wat...cXDgFwE13g [Edited 11/11/15 21:17pm] There's Joy in repetition

The artificially high pitched voices, the transformers sound effects, the (very) simple piano melodies. I think the only way I could enjoy any of that would be if I was off my face on acid. And I don't even drink, so hard drugs is something I could definitely rule out LOL. I wouldn't think less of anyone who enjoys that kind of music though, that video has 244 million views so there must be something to it. It's just not for me.

It is strange you all mention this. When the album came out on tidal, some purple angel sent me copy of it and I listened to it (With the understanding I would buy the disc when it dropped), and my first impression was "I really hate this machine pumped rap like shit". I couldn't stand it at all except for 2 songs "Hardrocklover" which I had already heard, and "1000 X's and O's". . But over a day my opinion approved, to only really hating tracks 1 - 4 and then track 1 only, the rest has grown on me, but only to a point and that is merely satisfactory. It has gone from a 2/10 album to a 6/10 album. . Incidentally I felt that way with Planet Earth and 20Ten when I first heard them, but my opinion improved somewhat over time. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I could name plenty of crap composed in 92 and plenty of brilliance composed in 2014-5. What you like you like, what you don't like you don't like. Same for everyone, whatever time period. Change it one more time..

havent played it in 2 weeks i think and don't see myself reaching to play it again for a while. The first half threw me off. Hard to get into. All that trying too hard was a little much. I like the last half though..FallInLove2Nite and on Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

The only songs I've been listening to lately is 1000 X's and O's and June. June has grown on me a little bit while the rest of the the album is still quite boring. Welcome 2 The Dawn

I like a few songs on it. To me it's never been the worst. For one I could listen the this album whereas I cannot AOA.

Apparently, the entire album must be unworthy to Prince.

Skrillex! I was wondering where Josh got his inspiration. And so it only fits that I post this video again:
But on the serious tip, I tried to get into HitnRun. But I find myself not listening to it anymore. But I liked it better than Musicology, which is not saying much. [Edited 11/15/15 3:58am]
