The Days of Wild

Hi. Just a quick question regarding the song Days of Wild. I have 8 different versions of this song but they're all live. Is there an actual studio version of this anywhere? I'm not asking where to find it, just if it's available.

Thanks.

Thanks. I thought The Crystal Ball might have a studio version on it but it arrived in the post this morning and lo and behold, another live version. D'oh! smile

Still consider it a real shame a studio version of Days Of Wild was never released. Should have been on Gold or at the very least could have put it on Crystal Ball.

It was broadcast on the radio in Holland (and other European countries) in early 1994, together with Interactive, Now, Beautiful Girl and 319. So you should be able to find a good quality studio version.

For years I've only had the live versions. Upon hearing the studio version I was a bit let down. The best live version I've heard was from The Beautiful Experience broadcast.

I've never been over keen on the studio version, but it's an awesome live track.

Emma, the studio version has never been officially released, boots only.

I would argue it is officially released.
It is sold to radio stations in some countries which follows the lines of:
The release of music on through other media:
Release of some songs on websites or webshops,
Sales of CDs with papers,
Song with a photo book,
Music for a football team.

Agreed. Although there was no official commercial release, the broadcast release was official. It's kind of like today when he releases a track to stream but does not offer it to purchase as a download.

I always really liked the version on Princemas.

I have a studio version but it sounds like a demo. Does a studio version with the production values of TGE exist?

Just the demo sounding version, but really 2 versions. A 3 minute and a six minute extended one.
I've often wondered how the song would have fit with the material on TGE. I love it though, especially the Beautiful Experience live version.

The definitive version for me is the Beautiful Experience one.
.
As for the 2 studio versions - I prefer the shorter one. The 6 min version is good but nothing really happens in the last couple of minutes

The original promo tapes (there were, in fact, 2: one studio and one live) were homemade and sent to maybe 3 or 4 radio channels, I don't think any original copy of them has survived and if so it'd cost a fortune on eBay.

Both recordings are widely circulating, though. 4DF did an amzing restauration work on them as well nod

I personally don't class that as an official release. While it was technically released from Prince's clutches, it's never really been available for purchase to the general public, so for me it doesn't count as official. But if others want to argue that it is an official release, I'm cool with that opinion. cool

It is, technically, a promo, therefore technically not a "release "but nevertheless an official product. Promos are considered official releases even though they are different from commercial releases. Promos are sent to the (or a) media only, leaving said media(s) the task of airing/broadcasting it (of course the internet has enlarged this definition to streaming, even though streaming often goes straight from the artist/label to the public), while commercial releases are to be purchased and owned by the public. I would deem official any recording or video willingly made available to the general public by an artist or a label, as opposed to a bootleg or inhouse tapes. Prince wanted those recordings to be played by certain radio stations, and the public to hear them.
