That's the trouble with threads like this: everybody mentions the same titles. So I'll go for Baby I'm a Star. Why? Because I remember very well that when I first heared the album, I loved every minute of it, but this was the only one that made me go, hey, this is funky.

Flip a coin between Beautiful Ones and Doves Cry. I used to always fast forward Doves because it got sooooo overplayed in my house then after about 5 years of not hearing it, I played it again and it was like hearing it for the first time Two of his most brilliant songs on a brilliant album.

I propose the whole album is one song with rests along the way. So I chose, the whole thing!

My 2nd choice is I Would Die 4 U the melody has something that I still can't grasp so I have to keep listening 2 it over and over

Everytime I see a thread like this it just reminds me of how epic this man is. Not just the problem of choosing a purple rain track but how which facet of Prince you prefer. Parade SOTT etc Prince surely is the original First world problem-which brilliant is brilliant? To answer the thread my heart belongs to when doves cry but the rest of me belongs to the beautiful ones

That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

The Beautiful Ones We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
