They are similar but I think "Chocolate Invasion" and "Slaughterhouse" make for the better comparison. I like them all about the same. I don't love them but I don't hate them. I think TCI and Slaughterhouse are more the more interesting albums.

I listened to NPS for the first time in years a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Yeah, the stinkers are still stinkers. But the album was so much more "Princely" than some others since then.

Also, fuck HnR.

I think if we're going to be comparing HITNRUN with another Prince album, then I think Rave In2 is the one to go with. I see HITNRUN as more like a 2nd disc of Art Official Age - remixes, b-sides and related bonus stuff - which is basically what Rave In2 was to Rave Un2, though more explicitly so...
