Courtin' Time

I just fixed a HUGE HUGE problem with Prince's Discography by mere chance. I was trying to figure out what to do with the mess that is Emancipation, and when I got to this song that I've skipped probably 1000's of time, Courtin Time, and I put it in the mix of The Vault, it actually works perfectly! Either after The Rest of My Life or Its about That Walk. It doesn't fit anywhere else in his discography. In the context of those two songs it actually isn't sounds pretty good.. and I never though I'd say that. One problem track fixed... several dozen to go.

Change it one more time..

And people think I'm such a huge Prince fan. I might give this track another chance.

I really love that song and I have somewhere around here but it would take a whole lot of effort on my part for me to find it, right now to listen to it.

I know I have it because I have the physical Emancipation CD's, somewhere in this big ass house. I also have it digitally stored on several hard drives, somewhere in this big ass house that I really don't feel like looking for, pulling out and plugging up. Because WE live in the age of GOOGLE and it really should just be a simple matter of me typing in the title and artist of that song in the GOOGLE Search Engine and finding it - NUMEROUSLY - the world over!

But unfortunately that is not the case and it's simply not the case BECAUSE of PRINCE - himself - being...well Prince! disbelief

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Yeah, I like it too, never understood what folks here have against it. And together with Jam of the Year, it's the only Emancipation track I've ever heared & seen him play live.

In case you haven't noticed,3/4 of the Org is as gently supportive of Prince as Gordon Ramsey is of his latest sous-chef.

I like Courtin Time, but it needs to be more organic and less stiff sounding to sound right on The Vault.

I agree, thats the only problem with it in the mix of the Vault because the rest of the sounds are analogue and much more lose.

.

I'm actually surprised so many people like it. I thought this was universally hated. Maybe my problem with it is that Emancipation sets your mood for R&B and then it shifts into Swing, and my brain was always like WTF!?!

Change it one more time..

I lost the CD's as well, and didn't even think about finding it until I started browsing TIDAL and started groving to a few things and decided I needed to redownload it all.

So what did you think of the Latin part in Damned If I Do? That was something that made me go eek but I liked it! biggrin

Im dominican, so I immediately start moving in salsa formation as soon as I hear the latin outerlude. Its not my favorite from the album but I don't think I ever skip that one.

Im not a huge fanatic of his music but I enjoyed La Radiolina and the first solo album Clandestino and I like who he represents as an artist because he always been about multiculturalism, multiracial groups etc. I used to live in Spain in the early 00's and saw him perform once in Barcelona. He's huge in Spain/Portugal/Italy/France and more recently in Mexico because he used proceeds from one of his albums to support the EZLN (a revolutionary indigeous group who you might be familiar with if you ever listened to Rage Against the Machine, because Zach de la Rocha was a big supporter of them)).

Yeah, I'd heared about Mano Negra, they had a hit with King Kong 5 in 1989 . When I travelled through Mexico in 2000, I heared Clandestino. And last year, when I was in a cafe in Cusco, Peru , I saw a local band and when they started playing Manu Chao songs, the place really got going! He's a universal superstar just like the late great Bob Marley.
