Each thread is time and date stamped, which displays at the head of the thread in the right hand corner.
As a general rule, duplicates are locked and the original remains open. In this case, as displayed to me: This thread Thread started 09/12/15 8:52pm

Thread started 09/12/15 9:22pm
It's quite possible, given the timings above that you had started creating your thread when no earlier thread was being displayed to you. I hope that helps explain.
