That's a good question. Maybe "Invincible" but I think MJ's care and attention to detail over the songs and music was more considered than HITNRUN. Not a big enough fan of the other guys to answer that question. Maybe to fans of EDM might think it's one of the best in the genre but it's not even great electronic dance music. I made my peace with HNR. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

The real question is has any of those artists ever stretched themselves this late in their career to the point that Prince did with this album? I would say a resounding no. I had ZERO expectations for this album and cannot stop listening to it. Get rid of TCBU and Mr. Nelson. Other than that, not a bad song and it's pretty amazing to hear this music coming from a 57 year old. Can't believe how impressed I am.

Bowie's "Never Let Me Down" possibly.

Day In-Day Out alone elevates it above this rubbish.

Earth Wind & Fire does... "Electric Universe"
and it sucked for the same reason HITNRUN is subpar..
too much contrived electronics, that seem(ed) to be chasing trends after prior lps did not chart well

Bowie has a ton of bad albums.. His last few though have been amongst his best. I dont listen to the others to have a point of view on their music. Change it one more time..

Not sure if I like HitNRun has much but no, none tried to stretch that much but also it's really a protégé project on which Prince slapped his name, nis voice, his guitar and his bass. So far it sounds like it's misguided for a legend to try to teach and nurture 20 years olds now we'll have to see what happens with the 3eG record. If it's strong, then the "teaching" may be working.... slowly

Well MJ is a dead pedophile with less than a fifth of the output of Prince so lets not even go there, regardless of the quality of HitNRun.

That Stevie song So What the Fuss has pretty crappy lyrics (I still have it on my Ipod for obvious reasons ) and he did some other whack ones in the 80s and such, but I really don't know . Fuck is that, I rather like Hitnrun, for now . For all time I am with you, you are with me.

exactly... and MJ was produced by other folks his entire career....never understood the comparison between the two...Prince could do what MJ did...MJ couldnt do what Prince does/did...

None of the great ones have embarassed themselves more than Prince on HitNrun.. because they were smart enough not to. He should have learned from the great ones that he loves to name drop so often and release less than a fifth of what he has. and leave pedophilia out of this discussion we're talking MUSIC. They were smart enough not to.. They knew their limits better as artist to avoid disaster. and I'm not gona give him more points for taking worse career decisions [Edited 9/8/15 16:32pm]

I think you need to compare Madonnas Rebel Heart since its the only other 50-something attempting to make commercially viable pop ..... right now. [Edited 9/8/15 16:32pm]

The album is getting good reviews. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Can't let that slide. If MJ is a pedo, which is at least, highly questionable, but still... what does that make the other 90% of Rock stars and Hip Hop acts that go after underage girls?? It's a slippery slope when you start realizing how many legends are confirmed to have groomed underage girls for sex.

i definitely always commend Prince for his endurance and longevity in a business that spits out the artists ususally the moment they are no longer profitable, or "hot"...almost 40 years in the game and he's still very productive...that said, HITNRUN is the first time that ive ever questioned his output...ive always found something to love on every Prince album...not this one...and its not even close...

yes, and thats because it is a great album... Prince 4Ever.

Who? USA Today? Don't they openly solicit good reviews like advertising depending on how much you want to spend?

FBI released their 13+ year investigation on MJ, didn't find shit: http://www.cnn.com/2013/0...son-files/ . Back on topic: those other artists don't have an album as bad as HitnRun cause they wouldn't stoop to such a sellout role. Sure, they might have experimented with current sounds, but they used producers and artists that were/are considered the best in the business, unlike Prince, who works with people who are clearly beneath him in talent. For example, when MJ needed a rapper and producer in his song, he got Biggie Smalls and Quincy Jones, respectively. When Prince needs a rapper and a producer, he gets Tony M/himself and Kirky J/Josh. Nuff said. [Edited 9/8/15 19:05pm]

Funkadleic's First ya gotta Shake the Gate on the other hand has a ton of great stuff (along with a few snoozers) The title track features a didgeridoo and is still funky!
