1. Million $ Show (featuring Judith Hill) HITnRUN phase one

Now the intro was cool for the recent concerts. But here imo it doesn't work as much. But if you're viewing it as a remix album with a couple new songs attached to it, then it isn't that bad.

Now, the track itself.... is pretty cool! I like this song, it's fun! Even though it has it's cheesy moments ("there's enough seats for everybody! Come on you guys!")

But if it had it's own opening, and if the song went different places instead of repeating itself a little bit at the end, and if it was a bit longer; then I think it'd have potential to be awesome!

But with the track the way it is,
MILLION $ SHOW, yay or nay?

This is the only track on HNR that sticks out as a sore thumb to me. Nay.

It's an unabashed Beyonce clone. Its fun, but I keep expecting Beyonces verse lololol

Worst opening track on any Prince album......period. The edit of the older songs in the beginning is completely unnecessary and not very well done imo. Josh did a nice job on the rest of the album though, whatever that input may have been.

Its ok. I don't hate it but I don't love it. I can deal with this one but it feels like it should have been on Judiths album instead of Prince's.

I think it's great. One of my favourites from th album, actually.

With that said, I can think of a few ways that it'd better.

The intro isn't even new lol. Go check your Nude tour bootlegs. Part of it is from the intro.

If Stare had been added, this would have helped make the old samples a little more relevant, as obviously Stare includes Kiss, so the old samples would have felt a little more connected. I've added Stare to the version I listen too and it fits very well in this context.

Cheers.

I like Million $ Show, its ok.. wink

this song is at least better than the awful "Stare" song imo... cool

the energy in the first 3 tracks is fantastic...

What about your girls' & boys' own memory..:

I remember when we had the concert opener snippet only and everyone here were so excited about "Million $ Show".

Don't U remember this, or have you forgotten already??

All this complaining haha, ok of course its fine.. with different opinions.

But I believe u all should give this new album a chance, it is rather solid after a few listenings imho... music

The guitar from Beginning Endlessly is sampled somewhere on this album

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Can anybody try their best to post the lyrics? A few places they are very hard to understand. I'm pretty sure there is a Prince version of this song. It's about going to a Prince & 3eg concert, then it seems like the rap is cut short. Judith Hill is excellent on this, but possibly Tidal will have a Prince version in the future. Kinda like how Liv Warfield sang The Unexpected or Wow & then Prince's version appeared on PE.

The only actual decent "song" on the album. (I consider X's and O's a remix of a far superior original).

I've cut out the first 30 secs but other than that this SOUNDS like Prince. (reminds me of Cant Stop This Feeling I Got).

I'm thinking of cutting of the oud songs intro.
They downgrade the album start a bit for me.

Interesting, I just read a review where Can't stop This feeling I got was also mentioned as being similar. In a way it serves the same function in setting up the mood for the beginning of the album, almost a pre-album song. Love the energy of it and the sense of getting ready to get to that concert!

Prince releasing that track is the musical equivalent of an old embarrassing uncle trying to dance at a wedding.

biggrin

My 9 year old daughter loves it, she was singing 'welcome to the mill-million dollar show' all day yesterday. And maybe also cuz he sounds like a Disney character when he says 'no running come on guys'

It's not a great song, but they put enough effort into it to make it work.
Btw: The high falsetto parts are Prince's, I'd say. This is nice!

It really does leave me completely cold when Prince on his own albums has another person sing lead. When his own voice comes in, the song suddenly comes to life. A boring kind of life, but better

I tried to imagine another of the songs as the opener, but I couldn't.

But it's still way too cheesy.

Much different version of this song played at the baltimare rally 4 peace concert that I attended. It was played over the PA at the beginning of the show, Prince harmonized vocals were everyone on the track straight from the beginning, I defeinitly prefer that version, whatever it was.

Treated as just an intro, it's okay.

Lyrics are shit, tho. That seems to be the real theme with this album.

So as an intro, it at least tells you to brace yourself for an album full of shit lyrics.
