3. Ain’t About to Stop(feat. Rita Ora) HITnRUN phase one

I know many on here will disagree because this song is pretty far "out there". I have liked a decent amount of songs off of each album released over the past few years. But this is the first song since probably The Gold Experience that I just thought Holy Fucking Hell when I heard it. I cannot believe this man is 57 years old and came up with a song that sounds like absolutely nothing he has ever done and just kicks you right in the throat. For me, it's hands down best on the album (which I think it quite a bit better than AOA overall). Like I said, I know there are plenty who will not like it, but for me, it has restored a decent amount of faith.

This is one I really like the vibe , but like a lot of the record would prefer as an instrumental.

I love it too.

It doesn't sound like Prince at first but under closer inspection it does.

The first 4 songs in fact blow me away. Such energy.

The beat is dope, I like the hook and the fact that Rita isn't featured too prominently up there. I forgot for a minute that I was listening to Prince in the middle, then came the "OH WAH!" and I was like "oh, yeah" nuts.

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Agree 100%. MDS would be better if P was singing the whole song, but Judith does a great job as well. Have not liked much "Prince Rap" in the past, but Like A Mack is slammin!

er

That's the only track on the album I'm no so keen on actually! Maybe it's a grower but too shouty shouty for me. We'll see if I can warm to it with repeated listens.

Edit- having a morning listen & I can't do this song. Sorry, can't handle that repeated "Ain't about 2 stop! Ain't about 2 stop!" This is the kind of modern music I hear in public places that physically hurts me inside my brain. Completely discordant 2 my spirit on every level. Never thought there would be a Prince song I couldn't listen 2, but it's happened. sad must mean I'm getting an old git right enough. No thank you, I don't like that feeling that my nose is about to bleed. Love the other songs 2! confused

If he wants any kind of a hit, this is one to promote, with Rita.

Hell, she's on this years X Factor panel here in the UK, perform it on the show with her and he'll be back in the UK top 10.

Best song on the album. It actually sounds like Prince isn't TRYING to be "cool" to me,he just is cool. If I remember correctly from that horrible Yahoo fiasco Rita was featured more prominently, especially on the hook. Probably got changed due to record company shit.

I may be wrong, and stand to be corrected, but I know from living in London, listening to reggae/ragga/dancehall and hearing the patter from Jamaican and Windies mates that what I'm hearing is her saying blutclat - which isn't a very nice term, and I never thought I'd hear on a Prince record, especially now that he's a JW. What we're basically being told is that if we're not Rita-Bots then we are basically period blood / used jamrag or tampon... sorry to be so crude but Rita put it out there (literally).

.

Other similar insults with different meanings would be rassklat, pussyclat, bumbaclat, bowcat and so on... I stand to be corrected but think I'm right. Hence my surprise in the original review thread, no one got on board so I thought maybe it was just me! Anyway, I'll say again, Booyakasha Princey G... and to Rita I'd say you're a pussyhole...

.

Sorry. All sounds a bit horrid... but its on there!

I'm hoping I'm wrong - and surely I must be? As how could it get through with Prince being JW? He even says it too in the Bob George voice... unless Rita didn't tell him, in which case she's done the ultimate Rio Ferdinand and mercked Prince. Will he invite he back though?!?!

R. Kelly heard this song and left a message for Prince that read:

"I'm glad 'Thoia Thoing' finally made it across your desk. You should pause 'Phresh Out The Runway" for a sec, and check out this jam called 'Addictive" by Truth Hurts.

1000 X's and O's,

I do like parts of it. Some things that I don't like is its too distorted and actually sounds lousy when played very loud. I don't like the north minny blah blah and his vocal saying that part. It's too whiny and doesn't fit the muscularity of the song IMO.

But the end of the song is absolute killer. I mean just ruthless stuff. You can hear the build up coming with that fuzzy guitar solo and boom. Owwwwaaa and it just moves. I need about 2 more minutes of that.

I think this song is GREAT!! I love it!! Actually I like 9 of the 11 songs. Only two duds for me is June and This Could be us. I really am liking the rest. Its different and in a good way. It actually flows like an actual album which is something thats been missing in a lot of his post Warner albums for me.

The etymology goes into the more distasteful aspects of the origin. But yep. If I called someone a blutclat it'd be like calling them a dickhead.

If he wants this album to crossover to a younger audience, which he clearly does judging by its content, then this is exactly the type of stuff he should do. Didnt he do American Idol a few years back? Alas, youre right though. Just take all the things he should do to promote his music and look in the opposite direction, because thats where Prince will be.
