I'm not a huge fan of what I've heard from HITNRUN so far, aside from Hardrocklover, which is good. But I liked what Josh did on AOA. I'm pessimistic about HITNRUN, but I hope I'm wrong. It would be great if I end up enjoying it as much as I still enjoy AOA. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I don't get it either. AOA seemed like it was one of his all round best received albums on here for a good while. There were two or three tracks on there on which Prince didn't even play a single note and I'm sure Josh had a hand in most of them. I don't buy that Josh has as much control and input as what is being put out there. I don't buy that Prince is giving up control over his music and letting someone else do the music and Prince just comes in and drops some lyrics. This is the same guy that led everyone to believe that The Time performed on their albums when it was just him and Morris and The Time were actually extraordinarily talented.

Prince has always had a history of incessantly promoting whoever was the latest hot young piece of ass to strike his fancy.
Just is Andy Allo/Carmen Electra/Sheila E./Nona Gaye/et. al.

Well, since the music is 80% to 90% Josh.... I guess Prince figures he might as well do all the promotion. This is truly, typical Prince, to fuck up adding a producer to his team. I wanted someone to guide Prince better through doing what he normally does. Someone to kind of coach him back on track like a shooting-coach for an NBA player might do or a quarterback-guru for a NFL player. Instead we got someone generating beats that doesn't fit Prince's style and Prince coming in after the fact and making the same poor choices with the producer generated beats that doomed his own pure-Prince material of the last 10-15 years. To me, there is very little advantage in this arrangement.

Those clothes are style of what Prince has worn. The black jacket is like the one he wore at an awards show a year or 2 ago the gold vest with the forearm bands is similar to the one he wears during live shows

But did he co-write some of the songs or just program the beats? The wooh is on the one!

Prince writes the melodies, sings and plays guitar. I would say that's more than 10% to 20%. The wooh is on the one!

Josh writes the melodies, too! Josh said in one of the now, too numerous to keep track of, interviews that he starts with the melodies first, and prince simply adds his guitar and vocals, usually without touching the rest of the track.

He has done this with Kirky J, Michael Koppleman, Hans Martin Buff, and others. I'm not sure what you're implying - are you thinking that secretly Prince is doing everything and they're just pretending Josh produced the album?

The way I see it we're taking the good with some bad with Josh. For instance, I don't think there would've been a "Way Back Home" without Josh. A song that can't really be categorized, yet is one of the standouts on AOA. On the other hand, there's FALLINLOVE2NITE (which I actually like); not Prince's greatest moment, with a heavy hand by Josh. (apparently) "The password is what."

That is not what he said. He said he programmed the beats with the idea that they should lend themself to writing melodies. Here are some other quotes:
"It really is amazing to see him [Prince] work. When I have a beat ready that I think is funky, I‘ll send it to him, and then he’ll send it right back with vocals or a whole new arrangement for a crazy string section. Sometimes he’ll even come in and plug his guitar up right here by the soundboard and just lay something down while I’m staring at him! He’s just able to create so much. "
"Do you get several takes to choose from, or does Prince just present you with the final version? Exactly that. He's saying, "Hey, sir, I've recorded these vocals. This is what you get." But that gave me the opportunity to appreciate the genius of Prince. The harmonies, and where he sits on the beat, which notes he chooses, and the breaths he takes… I'm hearing all this stuff because I'm having to mix it and I can really say that he is a genius." The wooh is on the one!
