I agree....It is both, a masterpeice - and a commercial for the kingfdom hall. It really is a spectacular peice of work.

If the album had been well received funksterr would still claim it's all Josh, but since the album didn't get a good reception it's suddenly all Prince

I have a feeling Josh is going to become another Larry Graham. Talented, sure, but their influence on Prince's music is kinda annoying.

I don't think they are anything alike, especially that Prince was using his basement for Free Love and just in general I don't think Prince sees himself in Josh

I think to be fair thats exactly what this album is. I dont think Prince has taken it very seriously. Perhaps phase 2 is a Prince album that shows the students how it is really done.... Here's hoping anyway.

THe difference is that Prince was still releasing good music with Larry around. Can we really say the same now?

As other people are hinting but I want to make fully explicit, a lot of the reaction to Josh, AOA and HnR.

SHO reminds me a lot of reaction to Larry and TRC.

The threads back then are etched in my mind as early examples of haterdom on the web in general (in this respect some ORGers were true innovators but not in a good way).
