I think it may be how I referred to the quick fire knocking noise on the track. I may have also mentioned hiccuping gorillas in my analysis too. RIP |

This, I 100% agree with. Sept 7 will come and go and I will not have heard the album. In my mind it's a Josh album moreso than a Prince album with all of the Josh interviews circulating. |

Let's be honest, Prince can't sneeze into a kleenex without some of you guys thinking it was a major faux pas. Maybe it's not that serious...all the time...
He's just giving this guy he gets along with his chance and he likes what he does. He's giving this group an opportunity to learn and to teach him things. So he could have gotten any great producer out there to join him -- it's not what he wants to do.
What's the big deal, we were all given chances when we weren't quite as good yet.
I find Prince's actions to be very humanistic and principled. Whether the results will be as good as what he could have achieved with a renowned or arguably more talented producer is moot.
Do you spend time thinking about how much better For You would have been if it had been co-produced by that EWF guy as was suggested (and rejected). Back then, you could have been calling Prince a fool for not working with a more sophisticated producing talent than his young self.

as a big fan of Earth Wind & fire, i often wwonder what For You wouldve sounded like if produced by Maurice White...the unfulfilled possibilities give me chills...
Prince trading verses with Maurice on "Boogie Wonderland"...or Prince singing "Best Of My Love" instead of The Emotions..or the EW&F bandmembers lending extra instrumentation to "Crazy You" or "So Blue"... sheeeeeeit |

When David Bowie, Stevie Wonder or any other legend comes out with an album they don't do a dozen interviews that are dominated by their producer, even if that producer is young and talented. This is more than him giving props. |

You don't seem to understand that Prince has to do exactly what they want, when they want it, otherwise it's shit, destroying his legacy, foolish, amateurish, not worthy of his name etc. They are the only ones who know what is right for Prince.

Prince is so confused .. He doesn't even know that his promoting 3eg for a year completly killed aoa on arrival .. Now it's all about josh ... Which means he will be touring and promoting his 12 piece horn band with all unreleased music that will never appear on phase 2 as phase 2 will never happen ... Me thinks p is so lonely that this retarded method of promoting his colaborators as worthy stars of the music with his name on it, is his only way to have friends anymore .. |

"the first time he ever met me, he just ran over and gave me a huge hug", Welton laughs, sitting at the console of Paisley Park's main studio. "All he knew at the time was that I was [his drummer's] husband, and i was like, 'why is Prince squeezing me so hard like that?' " |

Yeah... ummm Prince's personality is waaaaaay differenter (yes I know thats not a word, but I'm tired) than theirs. There are few people who I could think of that think like him... in any genre, nevertheless another musician. Change it one more time.. |

Well the good thing is he doesn't actually pay attention to all the nuts on the org, so I don't think there's any fear of him stopping from doing whatever the hell he fees like doing in any given moment. Change it one more time.. |

I love to listen to old school funk, it's my Friday night music and yeah I too wonder what would have happened. Maybe Prince does too -- but without his fierce independent spirit, there would probably be no Dirty Mind, that demo-punk that made Prince...Prince.
It's funny people say Prince is destroying his legacy. Prince's legacy is so secure he can afford to do these types of projects. I don't think there's that many people on the Org that understand that Prince is a genuine hero to many artists today that respect him for his music, but also for rebelling against the recording industry so early. Anyone that's been in the business long enough knows what Prince is doing with these projects.

So you think they are controlling him through religion, endoctrination.... and Prince just does what they want?
A less paranoid explanation would be that he's giving them a level of freedom with his legacy, for better and for worse. It's highly unlikely he needs them to record the kind of songs you want, but he's choosing to do so because yeah, his legacy is more than secure, it's carved in stone.
