The reason this album tracklist looks lazy or uninspired, is that he released a good bunch of those tracks as single "thowaways". So when he puts them taking up half an album it gives the feeling the album is a throwaway album. He should've kept those "singles" and just saved em up for the album! [Edited 9/3/15 17:52pm]

So dramatic and fatalistic.
Didn't they mention "phases"?
This could be mostly Josh's work (remixes or tracks where Prince mostly sings and plays guitar). Sort of him giving Josh "his" record. It's a Josh N Prince record.
The second phase might be a more standard Prince record, and the third a 3eG record.
Many possibilities, they're not all palatable to everyone, but we were definitely given the impression that a lot of music is coming.

Have I mentioned AOA is almost as bad as MPLSOUND? I just have to get it out of my system. Not quite there yet.

Hmm, after seeing this track list, I think my predictions of phase 2 being 12 more remixes of breakfast can wait is looking more and more promising.
Record companies actually do serve a purpose, they would have never signed off on this.
Here is hoping 1000 Hugs And Kisses is not all industrialized out and is actually the nice smooth ballad (without Hannah on lead vocals) that I expect it to be.
At the end of the day I will be glad to have 'something' new from the man, but this is not looking good at the moment. Perhaps we will all be pleasantly surprised once this lands......holding out hope. "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

To be honest, I'm happy this is not another "hei, listen how I'm able to do what Prince was doing in '80 but this time without ispiration!". Fallinlove is not a great Prince song, but it is not another Take Me With U clone. It reminds me some Pet Shop Boys works. Hardrocklover is missing a guitar solo, but is not a bad song. Add to Hardrocklover some noise sound, quite reverber, downgrade sound quality and you get a outtake prince's fans could peel hands for applause in '80. This Could Be Us remix, ok. I can not understand why put this remix in a album. It is not bad, it is not good, actually it is not.

The petshopboys are *more* than fallinlove. But fallinlove is an exploration in that places.

Well, I do not consider it "shoddy and awful". I think there are previous Prince's experiment in electronic pop that are more "shoddy and awful" than fallinlove. The only problem with fallinlove (for me) that is missing something in second half of the song: a bridge, a instrumental variation, I do not know, but actually the song is quite poor: the chorus and not much more.

leadline said: Record companies actually do serve a purpose, they would have never signed off on this.. I think this is a very good comment. Prince says "HITNRUN" is the sound of freedom. But even Ernest Hemingway needed an editor. And Warner Brothers was right to Trim Crystal Ball into SOTT. Or to tell Prince after '88 to take a pause on releasing another album. Look at George Lucas--sometimes artists need someone to say to them, "Hey, this isn't very good- you shouldn't release this". Potentially- let's hear it first fully, but the signs are there-HITNRUN sounds like a mistake.

what's impressed me about it so far, is that it hasn't leaked yet 'at' Tidal now. is they will be pressed by now, right? you have to give him that, at least. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

To be honest, I quite like the track, find it quite catchy

In a way it would be funny if it leaked before monday. After all this" fight for your right" talk from Prince
