If you are of a certain American type yes that might be very awkward to admit in public, but for slightly more normal poeople it might not be an issue if they are horny or driven by something more heavenly.

The first thing back was, "Showing results for lovesexy photographer"

Princes head is shrunken in size in this shot - it's a technique the photographer used a lot. If you measure he is about 6 hads tall which are cosidered "heroic" proportions in art. Usually fashion models are hired for proportions close to that.

For some reason I thought it was Jean Baptiste Mondino (director for I Wish U Heaven video) or Herb Ritts. The style is very David LaChapelle, but it's not him.

I've just found it was Mondino as I originally thought. I love his work, he's great!

...but it's cool to re-visit some of these points sometimes as they can so easily be lost in time. This has certainly got me thinking about this campaign once more. I loved all of the press ads. I did think it was odd that at the time some people thought this was crude and that in some cases it is said the artwork was covered up in shops - very odd indeed. I've never seen this as crude as it's very asexual.

I'm glad the OP created the thread. Out of all the 'study' of the Lovesexy era I actually never thought of the photoshoot. So thanks Dilan and Doozer

His ugliest cover ever, well maybe not but one of his worst. He makes very cheap covers. The good ones for me are: Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, Around The Globe IN 80 Days and Sign O' The Times. The other ones are so... is trash.

^ the Lovesexy artwork is so stylish, so very beautiful... together with Parade his best cover art, imho...

I don't find it offenssive in any way (and yes I am European not american), even the caligraphy, the letters' writing is amazing and fits in perfect.

No need to say I loooove the Lovesexy music as well, a true masterpiece of pop-funk, lots of screaming guitars, and the production is maybe complex but yet brilliant..

The Lovesexy album cover is featured in a book i have '100 best Album Covers' and features little tidbits, the most interesting being prince sat with Mondino in is Paris apartment looking at the negatives and chose the final shot for the cover.

Will have to dig it out and scan it.

I was lucky enough to be given all of my local record stores promotional material for LoveSexy. I think the cover artwork was totally original at the time and remains original now - plus it got Prince a shitload of press coverage at the time that he wouldn't have got with a standard cover.
