Nah. He should get a whole new crew of talented musicians. People who will challenge him for once. Or he could hire the Vanguard. Best show I've ever seen. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Yes!!!
And Neto was great on the Montreux shows, he gives Prince's music that extra mature sound I think. So, yes to this idea. Or the 2011 band!! [Edited 8/5/15 15:39pm] MPLSOUND

The Vanguard Group is an American investment management company based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, are they really better than 3rd breast? [Edited 8/4/15 13:15pm]

dandan said: Extremely tight, world class musicians who can play anything from his back catalogue. That's what the Musicology band was to me. 3rdEyeGirl bring nothing to the table but limitations in my opinion. Limitations often spur creativity. Perhaps that's one of P's reasons for committing to a younger team.

Haha, totally agree! I agree Prince needs a band that is on that level, would be much better for him. Musicology band was too polished, 3EG band is too limited. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

. I don't care how technically proficient he is, dude makes elevator music. . Just like Steve Vai is perhaps technically incredible, but a worthless musician. © Bart Van Hemelen

I was not just talking technical skills. Renato is virtually the only Prince keyboard player to have a dinstinct style of his own. Like it or not, but show respect. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

This is so repdictable. Ages ago, people were slating this band terribly. All kinds of names were thrown at them and now people want them back.
Give it another 8 - 10 years and people will want 3rdEyeGirl back if they havent been replaced then. [Edited 8/5/15 14:02pm]

Even Prince would disagree with that one Databank. Lisa Coleman and Dr Fink stand out uniquely

IDK if it's very reasonable to assume that Prince values Funk and Lisa more than Renato as musicians: he consistantly talked about the Revolution's limitations when asked about a possible revival. Personally I don't think I could recognize Fink if he played on another artist's song, one could say his sound was distinctive in 1980 but ever since, anyone playing Mplsound kind of keys sounds just like that. Lisa maybe I would, depending of what she does, but unlikely in the sense that I don't even recognize her keys playing on W&L's albums (but it's damn obvious on The Flesh for example). On the other hand the other day (before the thread started) I was listening to a Sheila track with Renato and had forgotten he was playing on that and heard the keys and immediately thought "ha ha that's Renato", it was just SO HIM. However my point wasn't to diss Prince's other keyboard players, and I find the notion of comparing musicians a bit immature as a whole because each has assets and talents of their own, but to highlight the fact that Renato had quite a unique style. I also think the notion that P's 80's musicians were more talented than those who followed is totally biaised. There is a reason why Prince had to rehearse grooves in loops for dozens of hours with his 80's bands: they weren't so "tight" and needed practice (and probably P himself, too). I'm pretty sure later bands jammed a lot, too, but not for the purpose of "practice" anymore. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

He didn't constantly talk about it lol that thing he said a year ago after saying they were fierce and sharp like the knife he was holding, is a man 'holding' people back to over 20 yrs ago like they haven't grown as well. He was also at a place where he was developing a sound of his own, in the 80s very distinct sounds/music. And back then they were all still new and practicing their craft. . Lisa was never an explosive keyboard player, but she was a master of color in her harmonies; I could sing off of what she had with straight soul. etc The Artist still raves about the original Revolution bassist, Brown Mark (who took over for Andre Simone), calling him the tightest bass player next to Graham himself. -Nov 1999 I remember when Miles Davis came to my house. As he was passing by my piano, he stopped and put his hands down on the keys and played these eight chords, one after the other. It was so beautiful; he sounded like Bill Evans or Lisa [Coleman], who also had this way of playing chords that were so perfect. -1997 . But I'm not talking about the band, but those two individuals But I agree, that Prince uses the musicians for what they have to offer.

What Prince said about Wendy during the Musicology period: . You mean why is it ok to diss people period?
. But I'm more interesting in a critical thinking. Not in just putting people down for the sake of it. But people do/don't like musicians/artists/singers for whatever reason they have.

P dissing his former friends is not the most honourable thing, but it's personal. People dissing high professionals they've never met based on uneducated guesses on the quality of their work is human indeed, but even less cool in my book. Now what about me dissing dissing people?
