Yes this would be the automatic response but is it me or against those other the albums does SOTT seem a bit overrated? Perhaps Dirty Mind should take its place for its developmental importance and timeless sound?

1) Purple Rain (by far the best album, and had the 1st best singles)

2) Sign O the Times

3) 1999

4) Controversy

5) Around the World in A Day. (this album had the 2nd best singles)

So what will actually go on the mountainside sculpture? An image of Princd from that era? If so, I'd go with 1999, Parade, The Gold Experience, and Musicology. Those are good albums plus a diverse physical look. I would say AOA to get the afro on there, but it's just not close to being in his top 10 albums so I can't justify it.

Dirty Mind

1999

Purple Rain

Sign 'o' the Times

Even though I find Dirty Mind overrated and I have my own strong opinions about it, there's no denying its' place in the Prince universe. It laid out the blueprint for a major part of his career. Maybe even his whole career. And it still is a damn good album.

1999 is a masterwork that laid out the blueprint for '80s dance music and even some of the music of today.

Purple Rain is my favorite record of all time and Prince's biggest mark on pop culture.

Sign 'o' the Times is his most genius, inventive record. No denying its importance.

I love ATWIAD, but I don't see it up there lol

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

DIRTY MIND is overrated... However it is on the TOP 4 list because it is the breakthrough album that really debuted the PRINCE sound and feel... He found himself on that album that's why it's so important. IMO there are many better albums than DIRTY MIND, I actually prefer CONTROVERSY over DIRTY MIND... PARADE is much better IMO... But it's the historical significance in the PRINCE catalogue as his real breakthrough album that's why by critics it is always regarded as one of the TOP 4 Prince albums...

Not just by listening to an album saying it's good or not, basically just opinion.... Critically, musically as a PRINCE fan I believe the top albums should always be:

PURPL RAIN

SIGN O' THE TIMES

1999

DIRTY MIND

any other album has to come after those 4 albums. Those were the 4 albums that made PRINCE.
