What was the last song that actually felt like a masterpiece?

I know way too many people will get worked up by this thread, so let me say up front: there have plenty of songs from him on recent albums that have been good to great. But what was the last time someething felt transcendent to you?

Again: let me say what a grumpy old-school fool I know this makes me sound like, but for me it's I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man.

Since that single, I've never gotten a sense of him being so wild, open and emotional. Disagree? I'm sure most on here do, but make your case for the last classic.

(My runner up might be Eye Hate You.)

Masterpiece, toasterpeace... He's written excellent songs, some may not "feel" like a masterpiece because he's not supposed to be able to write any now according to some kind of boring narrative.

Clouds is an excellent song, I'm grateful for it.

Groovy Potential.

Not a masterpiece in the same sense as When Doves Cry but it doesn't miss a beat and those horns and the bass flow so brilliantly.

I agree, I think Groovy Potential is a brilliant song. It's a shame that it hasn't end up on any album smile
