I don't think people are really arguing that Prince doesn't have a right to remove his music from any and all streaming sights. Rather, people are lamenting that such decisions make it much more difficult for new fans or potential fans to discover his amazing back catalog. Regardless of what you personally think of streaming -- love it, like it, hate it, don't give a fuck about it -- streaming is how many if not most people engage in music these days. When Prince's music isn't there, his legacy vanishes a little bit more. He's willing to pay that cost, and it's his decision. But let's not kid ourselves about the potential impact on new fans. It sucks for them.
Exactly that's what I've been trying to say...
I'm trying to say this with respect so I don't sound ignorant... But I feel a lot of the fans here complaining they don't like streaming or they have their Prince catalouge already on their cd's lp's and mp3's... I feel they are not getting the jist of what u just said, I also feel like those people are "OLDER" fans of Prince...
The whole point of him not be accessable anymore on social platforms, youtube and streaming site... Is not his image that's diffucult to find it's the most important thing which is the MUSIC...
How many people of the new generation will know about Prince if they can't find any concert or music video on YouTube? Face it the majority of people stream music now a days not go to the stores and buy it... That's the exact point, his legacy is vanishing more and more to the next gneration... Not to you people who been there and saw it... It's the next generation then the generation after that and after that... He isn't keeping up with the times anymore, he's hibernating himself from it... Everything evolves, and he is not anymore, in terms of a distribution sense.
After Prince passes away, his music will be everywhere so I'm not worried about "the next generation then the generation after that and after that" not finding his music.

Prince was such a forward-thinker when it came to Internet music, it's a shame that he has regressed so far. |

I agree, Prince always takes a step backwards these days and he is obviously confused and can't make up his mind about how people should get access to his music. If hes against Spotify why have his music available there in the first place? nothing makes sense. He was also against ITunes now his music is there. Welcome 2 The Dawn |

You don't "buy" individual songs/albums from streaming services, you pay a flat fee (usually around $10 a month, including TIDAL although they offer lossless streams for $20 a month as well) for access to their entire catalog. You can however (on mobile devices/tablets) download songs/albums for offline playback, but you can't play those songs if you stop subscribing. Like if you drop cable/sattelite you lose access to ESPN. [Edited 7/4/15 17:50pm] |

... Well my speculations are becoming true... Like I said Prince and Jay obviously have a mutual relationship and made a deal Prince is statisfied with, no wonder he has taken all his music from other streaming sites...
He is still with WBR too as it shows... Maybe TIDAL will be receving the remastered versions to stream if those ever happen. |

I hope we get a chance to buy this song. I enjoy it a lot, and I would like to express my support by paying for the song. I got it off Soundcloud already, but I would buy a single the minute it's up. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

It's ashame because TIDAL isn't as popular as the other streams, and offers less music... I have SPOTIFY and will stick with it unless PRINCE releases his albums or other new music on TIDAL only... |

I think you might be right. Forbes magazine is speculating that Prince may now be a co-owner of Tidal.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2015/07/04/is-prince-the-newest-tidal-co-owner/
If Prince were to join the company as a co-owner, it would be a real coup for the company, but not unheard of. Most of the sixteen celebrities that were named as original co-owners—Alicia Keys, two members of Arcade Fire, Beyoncé, Calvin Harris, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Daft Punk, Deadmau5, Jack White, Jason Aldean, J. Cole, Jay Z, Kanye West, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Usher—are currently charting hits, and there aren’t many who are better known as legacy acts. An addition like Prince would change that, and perhaps open the door for other musicians in positions like his.
The article does say it's just speculation at present. Although he has offered Tidal exclusives already. "Freeuself" could end up being a tidal exclusive. |

Co owner would be interesting... Lets wait and see... But like I've been saying I am sure he made an exclusive deal with TIDAL for his upcoming music, I might be switching to TIDAL if Prince will only be releasing his upcoming music via that streaming site... |

Me either. But there's more to tidal than just streaming. There is also a lot of video content.
It's all still pure speculation at present anyway. But he's already allowed tidal to live stream a concert. It all comes down to how Prince uses it. Fans can pay for a month if he's promoting something or cancel during the quiet months.
All still speculation. As militant says, Prince is still on Google.music. Thats my player of choice atm simply because I can upload my own music, by which I mean bootlegs. |

I don't think Prince's next album would be TIDAL exclusive because Warner Bros. seems to still be involved (HARDROCKLOVER copyright). Prince wouldn't need WB just to put an album up on TIDAL just like he didn't need WB to put up "Baltimore" on iTunes. If there is going to be any kind of deal between the Prince camp and TIDAL it might be for side/associated projects WB seems not to be interested in (and that many around here claim not to be interested in as well) like the Judith Hill album, the NPGQ jazz record or the NPG compilation album people keep talking about. |
